General Motors CEO Mary Barra made a whopping $21.9 million in 2017, and that figure was enough to make her Michigan’s top-paid chief executive. However, it also makes her the third highest-paid female CEO in the United States.
MLive reported last Friday that Barra was beaten out only by 16 other CEOs across the U.S. The data only looked at publicly traded companies that made more than $1 billion in revenue. The CEO also had to be at the helm for at least two years.
If $21.9 million seems substantial, it’s a drop in the bucket compared to the highest-paid CEO on the list in general. That honor goes to Frank J. Bisignano who leads the company First Data with $102.2 million. The company works in credit card processing and solutions.

That’s a lot of cabbage! Enough to pay 405 full time assembly line employees $26.00 per hour each year. Personally, I think executive compensation has gotten out of hand…not just at GM but all over the country in all types of businesses.
Why such high salaries? Most U.S. citizens , including myself, will never make that much money in all of their working years added up.
Are you qualified?
Because she runs on the biggest companies in the world and as of right now she’s been pretty good at it! People shouldn’t be looked down upon because they earn a lot of money, honestly it should make you want to strive for more and also it breeds competition that only makes things better for everyone.
Worth every penny!
No disrespect intended, but we average middle class folks, who have been loyal GM buyers
for decades, are paying $55,000 and up for a new 1500 Series Chevrolet Silverado LTZ…Is this Why?? Is this why a Tahoe LTZ Premier is $70’,000 Plus, or our recent 2017Impala Premier stickered at over $40,000??
We stay loyal, to buying American, we take pride in buying American, especially Chevrolet, the Apple Pie and Baseball brand, of American motoring…and we get 3 year/36,000 Mile
Limited Warranties, compared to the Stronger Warranties on Asian, Korean and European brands…what do their top Administrative folks get paid??
Everywhere we turn we see Corporate Executives, Sports players, TV and Entertainment types, etc with Insane salaries, that are passed down to Us, in one form or another…
Excuse me for feeling insulted, but I know I am far from alone in this feeling…
We all Want to Buy American, to drive our Chevrolet’s, Buick’s, GMC’s and Cadillac’s…we take
Pride in that, Satifaction in that, and Comfort in that…we also want to be respected, and appreciated for that, in workmanship, quality and purchase price. I don’t wanna be that senior citizen in a Subaru or Toyota, because of the Price…I want to Support the American
factory worker, transport truck driver, dealership owner, and dealership employees, so we
Proudly drive ?? American cars, trucks and SUV’s. But I don’t feel very smart, in knowing I’m
Supporting $22 million dollar incomes, for folks who are making that Insane amount, from
Us working class Americans, who are being told What we will drive, such as Crossovers instead of a much more comfortable, and safer Sedan, and charge more, even though it costs less to build, so they can make larger salaries and bonuses!! I’m pretty sure the factory workers, dealers, dealership mechanics, parts department and service personnel, and sales people who are the Support Staff for every Auto manufacturer get anywhere Near that type of Income…for their part. Thanks for listening

Not an easy job..
