Explosion At GM Powerplant Causes Loss Of Power For Thousands

This past Saturday, 2,600 Wyoming, Michigan, electricity customers lost power after an explosion and small fire at a General Motors powerplant.

MLive reported police responded to the situation around 5:00 a.m. after the situation was quickly under control. Thankfully, power wasn’t out long for customers who receive electricity from the plant.

After the trouble occurred in the early morning, the power came back on for users around 7:00 a.m.

General Motors did not comment on the explosion or small fire, but a Consumer Energy spokesperson told the outlet that the problem likely started with a transformer. Thankfully, no one was injured in the incident either.
