GM Korea and Chevrolet have issued invitations for a new vehicle reveals, and the brand plans to show off the new Spark locally.
The invite did not provide details on the new Spark, presumably a 2019 model, but Chevrolet Korea will reveal the pint-sized vehicle on May 23.
It’s unclear if the new Chevrolet Spark will boast a reworked design, powertrain changes and more. Chevrolet recently revealed the 2019 Spark for North America, which adds an updated front fascia with a larger grille opening, more fluid lines and headlights integrated with the grille itself.
The powertrain is unchanged for 2019; a 1.4-liter four-cylinder LV7 engine provides the go, and a manual or continuously variable transmission (CVT) automatic handle shifting duties.
As for additional features, there aren’t any for North America, but  Low Speed Forward Automatic Braking joins the optional Driver Confidence Package.
The vehicle reveal follows turmoil at GM Korea. The automaker and state government recently agreed to a $7 billion bailout package to keep the entity in business. The local union also agreed to numerous concessions.
Stay tuned to GM Authority as we bring you the latest on Korea’s new Spark.
Comments
This might concern Opel too, since the Opel Karl = Vauxhall Viva is just a rebadged version of the Spark.
I guess not more is changed than the front facia.
PSA halted sale of those cars in Europe….
Umm, the North American Spark comes from South Korea…….
Stupidly ugly chrome HellBoy horns on the refresh. Busy, over styled, un-cohesive design on the new front end. Looks like the styling reigns were taken away from the original designer (responsible for the Camaro) and handed over to the Koreans.
They took a cleanly styled, sharp looking car and ruined it. Refresh fail.
