Comments
Numbers are deceiving as given South Korea’s proportional size difference to China, the sales market for Cadillac in South Korea is just slightly lower than China; but one has to think that Cadillac’s new XT4 will be popular in South Korea and China.
Good that itās on the increase –
But doesnāt 145 units fall under the NMF category? Just asking …
This kind of ānewsā just fills up a slow day after the holiday and is a time waster. Alex – please donāt send this no-quality stuff.
Ron – I am somewhat curious to understand why you think that this kind of unique reporting, which does not exist elsewhere in the world, is something you have come to label as “no-quality stuff”.
Before you answer, please understand that our goal is to report the news, including sales, for every market in which GM and its various brands operate, as we feel that this kind of reporting is vital to understanding the performance of GM globally.
If the performance of this particular brand in this particular market is something that is not of interest to you, then I recommend simply skipping over the story to the content that might pique your interest more. Otherwise, there are many others who find this content useful.
Sales trends have nothing to do with what happened last month but over a 12 or 6 month period it would. Ex. you have a story for Jan” sales are down!” then next month, “Feb sales are up”! But what are the factors? Number of weekends in a month? Weather or if economic news go south for a while where most buyers will hold back until they hear good news? The last six month sales trend has increased or decrease would make a news story better than just announcing numbers.
I do enjoy most of articles from GM-Authority. I just recently signed up on Ford Authority.
George – thanks for the note.
We will try to include more perspective and explain the factors for international markets in future installments.
Here’s one such example that we just published:

Responding to Alexās comment to my comment regarding low importance stories, itās simple – we are inundated with info these days, and we trust the sites we read regularly to be good stewards of our time by including stories of significance. A country market selling 145 vehicles a month doesnāt reach this threshold. Other readers made similar comments. I do find it curious that Alex always responds defensively to anyone not in his train of thought instead of just taking it as consumer feedback. And as readers we are his consumers, spending our precious time to read his websites for which the internet compensates him. He should take his own advice and, if the feedback doesnāt suit him, just skip over it. But in the long run, if you donāt listen to your consumers, they depart, along with the compensation. Iām about to drop the Ford and FSA subscriptions because the scant info found there is not worth the effort to open and scan.
