Here’s our first look at the 2020 Silverado HD interior, as our spy photographer managed to get some pictures of the cabin as the prototype truck was undergoing testing while pulling a trailer.
The spy photos show a similar, if not identical, center stack as in the all-new 2019 Silverado 1500, with the design representing an evolution of the cabins found in the outgoing K2 generation Silverado (and Sierra): an upright center stack features a touch-screen infotainment system at the very top, flanked by vertically-positioned, rhomboid-like air vents. A row of tactile controls for the radio and infotainment system, in the form of knobs and buttons, is located immediately below the screen, with HVAC controls immediately following.
The center stack joins the center console with a large storage space at the forward-most part. The storage space features provisions for wireless smartphone charging, which was located on the center armrest in the K2-generation models. A traditional column-mounted shifter is present and accounted for on the column, as Chevy elected not to replace it with another time of shift selector.

About 2020 Silverado HD
The all-new 2020 Silverado HD is expected to debut in early 2019 and go on sale later that year. It is expected to be based on a more robust version of the T1 platform underpinning the 2019 Silverado 1500, while also making use of the same mixed material strategy – comprised of using aluminum for the swing panels and high-strength steel for the fixed panels and frame – as its half-ton brother, delivering notable weight savings.
Under the hood, the 2020 Silverado HD is expected to continue offering the mighty 6.6L Duramax Turbo-Diesel V8 (L5P) mated to the six-speed Allison 1000 transmission, while potentially introducing a new V-8 gasoline engine to replace the archaic 6.0L Vortec V-8 L96. The new petrol eater will likely continue being mated to a six-speed automatic gearbox, though it’s possible that it will introduce a more capable version of its 8- or new GM 10-speed transmission as well.

Bean counters, man. They’re a plague on this company.
It’s just a test-bed. Nothing to see here. Move along.
