Last week, Chevrolet finally provided details on the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado and its engine lineup. With the news of a new 2.7-liter L3B turbocharged four-cylinder engine also came official photos of the 2019 Silverado RST.
The Silverado RST, or Rally Sport Truck, sits just above the Silverado LT in the range hierarchy. It’s most distinguishable by its body-color trim, full LED headlights and 22-inch wheels.
We’d captured the Silverado RST roaming around Michigan roads prior to the official photos, but the prototype truck also wore sport bars in the bed. The official photos don’t depict the equipment, which leads us to believe they will be optional.
Buyers looking at the 2019 Silverado RST will find the new 2.7-liter turbo-four engine as standard with the 5.3-liter L84 V8 engine optional. The four-cylinder engine provides 310 horsepower and 348 pound-feet of torque, and handily outdo the 285 hp and 305 lb-ft of torque found in the old 4.3-liter V6 engine. The V6 will stick around only for the Work Truck, Custom and Custom Trailboss models.
We think the Silverado RST is a pretty good looking truck with its full body-color trim and we’re eager to see the pickup in a color other than red. Let us know how you think the pickup is looking in the comment section below.

It looks a lot better in these real photos (vs cgi). I think the did an excellent job at changing the design while making it instantly recognizable, and the aerodynamic efficiency will surely be best-in-class. I like the s-shaped body line extending from the headlights to the door, even though I hated it at first.
I think this will be one of the top selling trim levels. It’s definitely the one I would choose if I were in the truck market. I’m not a huge fan of a lot of chrome like on the LT and LTZ, but I like the up-level features like LEDs and 22s, so this would definitely work for me.
I’ve heard rumblings that it “looks like a Tundra” or “looks like a f150”. This truck is instantly recognizable as a Chevy truck, front and back. I love the rear, reminds me of my old 95. Front looks like the old 99-06
too bad about that dull interior design though b/c the exterior is very modern looking. They nailed it.
I agree with you there. The exterior exudes power and presence, its the interior where they could have done more. But then again the interior while conservative compared to the exterior, is fully functional with many storage areas.
I will take one in pearl white with the 5.3 and 20″ black rims thank you !!!
Very nice I cant wait to see in person . I will take one in pearl white with the 5.3 and black 20 inch rims !!
Wanna see the RST in a blue or green
Great 21st century design, love the up/down key fob activated tailgate, auto-deactivation of engine cylinders. Give Ford F-series trucks real competition.
Still leaves room for an SS!
I don’t understand black wheels. Looks like the hub caps fell off a checker cab.
I used to feel that way, but love black wheels now. They just need to be bigger and not a full black.
The tailgate looks like it was lifted off an old jeep pickup, the wheel wells finally rounded so they don’t gap 14″ and a face only a mother could love. Look at it from the side fellows, its the only look she’s got!
Just when everyone thought that GM couldn’t come up anything too much different than the current pickup models, aside from some styling changes, GM has vastly changed just about every aspect of these new trucks!
I give the team plenty of credit for what they have accomplished.
These trucks will sell very well!
i am praying that they bring out an SS silverado WITH A V8! Please!!! Chevrolet needs to expand its V8 SS Lineup in a major way! Chevrolet also needs to take the 6.2L 376 and bore it out to a 6.4L 396 495hp/495tq and really wipe up the ground with everyone. Put that in a Camaro SS with a 1LE package standard along with a SS-396 Silverado and an Alpha-platform Malibu SS-396 and life will be all the way good!!!!!
Have to see in a double cab version in different colors , but looks good it’s truck I would buy, like full color body can’t wait test drive one
Here’s hoping a step side comes with it.
I got a Silver Double Cab with the All Star, Z71 and 5.3, 4X4 and 20 In Wheels. I love the Truck. Plenty of power and everything works right with great gas mileage. Chevy got this one right. Perfect so far for me. I still own a nice 96 Reg Cab Z71 and this is getting back to that kind of quality and durability.
