Last month, we got our first look at the much-awaited 2019 GMC Sierra Denali, specifically the 2019 Sierra Denali 1500 model, at the 2018 New York Auto Show.
We can’t say enough about how good this truck looks in person: it’s overflowing with style, presence, and finesse, without being too vulgar gaudy. The rendered press pictures don’t do this truck justice, so we snapped nearly 50 photos of the new range-topping Sierra 1500 for you in New York, which you can peruse in the gallery below.
Enjoy.

USB-C right there in the console. Awesome. If there is one thing GM excels at these days, it is incorporating the latest from the tech world.
Yup, this is true. They’re one of the first automakers to implement USB-C.
On the other hand, various features are sorely lacking, such as cooled rear seats, Super Cruise or Adaptive Cruise Control…
It would also be nice to implement various cold weather solutions, such as heated windshield nozzles or wipers. The most basic of Subarus have them, ironically.
Still waiting for the day where it’s not two steps forward, two steps back with GM.
Sorely lacking…..what percentage of cars that have adaptive cruise available are actually equipped with the option? I don’t even see it on most S-classes and you can tell when an S-class has it because of the ultra cheap looking “fake grille” insert they use that doesn’t fool anyone.
Subaru is missing HUD, a 6.2 V8 oh and being a full size pick up truck……its always 2 steps forward and one step back with Subaru….
You honestly don’t see it on the S-class? You probably should look harder then.
No, its not standard, and not all of them have that tell tale cheap ass plastic fake grille panel that hides the ACC sensor you can spot from a mile away, and I see a lot of S-classes in my office building.
If this site wasn’t so cheap and it let you post pictures, I’d educate you further, but that would probably be a waste of time……
Mr. R. – here is some perspective for you:
1. The “percentage of cars that have adaptive cruise control” is irrelevant. Yes, it is currently low, just like the proliferation of airbags was low in the 60s and 70s, and just like the proliferation of navigation systems was low in the 80s and 90s.
What is relevant, however, is that it is offered and made available, for two very important reasons:
a. Because people expect it, especially in GM’s flagship pickup truck, and
b. Because it’s an enormous contributor to profit for most automakers (when developed correctly)
It’s bad enough to see GM artificially limit the Silverado because it wants to give the Sierra more “unique/exclusive” features. But it’s even worse when GM is investing billions into autonomous driving technologies/capabilities at the expense of actual vehicle programs, while not offering the fruits of their labor on what is supposedly the best truck it offers. It’s simply a matter of bad product planning and getting lazy. Now, the new Sierra is a good truck, and wins on many levels… but the unavailability of ACC or SuperCruise is a failure – simple as that.
We can make up excuses for it all day long, but at the end of the day, there are zero reasons for GM’s most profitable model line to not have EVERY SINGLE technology that it in its portfolio, and then some, especially when not offering said tech limits consumer choice and experience as well as GM’s own bottom line, and ultimately hurts the product.
2. Subaru doesn’t pretend to make full-size pickups. It plays in the segments that it plays in, and it does well in those areas considering its size, manufacturing footprint, and retail reach… so your argument holds no water. If Subaru were to offer a full-size pickup truck to compete with the Sierra, then you’d have something… but it does not, so you don’t.
In fact, the mainstream sedans and hatches that Subaru offers all have AWD and some have performance variants, as well as weather-specific convenience features (heated windshield wipers) — all things that GM’s Chevrolet brand, which competes head-on with Subaru, has not dared to offer despite playing in some of the same segments.
Ultimately, there is a reason that Subaru has one of (if not the) highest customer purchase loyalty rates in the world… while Chevrolet is pulling out of many international markets and struggling to compete in the few markets in which it remains.
Despite my overly negative tone, I say all this with love and hope, hope as a GM enthusiast that GM steps up its game and begins to realize its potential by truly caring about product, the way it once did – before the current batch of bean-counting management took over and started “optimizing” the business in an effort to inflate share price before their retirement and/or before their stock options vest, while making said changes under the veil of “becoming more lean” and “planning for a responsible future”.
Some of their efforts are actually quite positive, but the majority — I’m afraid — will have negative long-term consequences. Unfortunately, that’s the reality – and that’s the realistic perspective from which I write this.
Also, you can’t even put a plow on a Subaru.
Zoomed in on the photo showing headlight controls and 2WD/4WD controls and you can see several areas with panel gaps/misaligned pieces. Is this because the truck is still preparing for production and there are kinks to be worked out or bad craftsmanship?
Im not being sarcastic it’s a genuine question
Yes, that’s exactly it. Chevy sent sales people to training to drive the new traverse when it came out, and it was a pre-production model. It had many mismatched interior panels of different textures.
I noticed this also. You would think that with this being the New York auto show, GM would send a Denali without a big panel gap right beside the 4wd control knob. Aside from that, this truck is beautiful. The Silverado…..not so much. Especially on the front upper fender.
Damn that looks sexy
Still looks very similar on the interior to my 2016 Sierra Denali. Love the Exterior though.
I really like that blue, it’s a lot like the 2014 stealth gray color.
What’s it called?
I think that’s the Satin Steel Metallic… here’s the entire colors list…
http://gmauthority.com/blog/2018/04/these-are-the-eleven-2019-gmc-sierra-colors/
… though we still don’t have actual photos of each of the colors.
myself, lifelong gmc truck owner ,likewise ,family thang,Disabled marine vet,and always will love gmc it’s my family tradition,
Beautiful Exterior Design…I look forward to seeing it up close and personal. As for the Interior, I see nice upgrades, in comparison to my 2015 Chevy Silverado 1500 Series LTZ…
But the front seats, look very disappointing…yes, I am also a lifetime GM Guy, who
has seen. and read how their management does things, since the 1960’s…and frankly,
I think it was Insulting 30 years ago…I think it’s dispicable, to read in the financial news
magazines, automotive magazines and newspapers, online articles, etc the latest Insane
Quarterly bonuses for Mary Barra, and her Crew, along with the ridiculous Salaries, and
Stock options, etc…and let’s not forget their benefits, healthcare, free drivers for their
Spouses, and more. The domestic automotive manufacturers have been over the top,
for so long, it’s no wonder why we see so many Imports on our highways..
Again, I am a loyal GM customer…you will never see me in a Ram, even though their
Interiors are darn near Mercedes in quality. So, what do we, the loyalist do, to Push
the folks on the ‘Upper floor’ at GM, to balance the merchandise, with the $60,000
Window Sticker?? To mellow the ‘Sticker anger’ when they read about the latest Bonuses,
for GM’s upper echelon?? It’s not surprising that the American Auto Dealers, are having
Problems, finding, and/or keeping good Sales associates…Thanks for listening.
By the way, I bought my first GM car, in 1963, a used 1955 Pontiac 870. In our Garage
this evening, is my 2015 Silverado 4×4 LTZ 6.2 Crew Cab, fully loaded, which I love driving,
our new 2017 Impala Premier V-6, In cajun red with a Every available option, which we
chose over every car in its class, along with a few others, and a 2002 Mercedes Benz SL 500,
with just 20,500 total, dealer serviced, miles, fully Optioned including the AMG Rims, etc…
The SL 500 is for sale, and will be replaced with a GM Certified, Corvette Stingray. Yes, we
are GM loyal!,
So maybe the ridiculously equipped Denali should have even more “stuff”… fine. But what about the work truck? Why do we at this point, still only have one grainy picture of a Silverado W/T from about 200 feet away….. This to me is a much bigger step back in terms of marketing. That is the truck I want to see, and trust me I’m not alone.
The RAM tradesman is being tested by the YouTube auto channels. One of the reviews had a disproportionately high amount of views, and endless comments thanking the channel for finally reviewing “a real truck”. We don’t even know what engines the GM w/t is going to have for christ sake. When I look at Silverados at the dealership, which is often – I keep walking past the 20″ chrome/aluminum wheels, until I see steel ones… you know the “base” $38k trucks.
