2019 C7 Corvette ZR1 Spotted Back At The Nürburgring: video

The 2019 C7 Corvette ZR1 debuted last year, but the Corvette team has continuously returned to Germany’s Nürburgring. Onlookers spotted the sports car once again and managed to capture video of the 755-horsepower ZR1 tearing around the track—the goofy sound muffling exhaust also returns, too.

It’s more than likely the Corvette team is continuing to prepare for an official lap time around the famed Nürburgring, and we know the team is shooting for a time of fewer than 7 minutes.

However, the only clue we have about what the Corvette ZR1 is capable of is an alleged time of 7:12.00. We take that time with a heaping grain of salt since an onlooker clocked the car as a driver set off. It’s very possible the driver may not have been pushing the ZR1 the entire time, or perhaps even mechanical failure of sorts occurred.

The Corvette ZR1 has one arch rival: the Porsche GT2 RS and its 6:47.30 lap time. The Corvette team will have a lot of work cut out for them to reach such a time. The previous generation C6 Corvette ZR1 managed a 7:19.63 in 2011, but the C7 Corvette ZR1 is a totally different animal.

    1. Why is this bad news?

The guy got canned and caught on with a supplier he had connections to.

Odds are Ford quietly placed him there and they have just the same access to tech and info as before just now the guy that gat caught for bad behavior is now on someone else’s pay roll.

The GT is not going to do anything more or less with the same players.

FYI it sounds horrible on the track. Lik. A flat sounding school bus. Should have used the flat crank V8.

The rule balance the competition anyways so Ford, GM nor any MFG will see a distinctive advantage.

      1. The rule, what rule? I’m talking about production vehicles not racecars. Ever read how Apple would buy up small tech companies who developed something they wanted for there own products then kept that tech for themselves?

May not amount to anything, will have to wait and see.

  4. I’m praying for a 6:55 or better for the ZR1. I also can’t wait to see the C8 mid engine testing on the tracks here an abroad

  5. The green car just behind the ZR1, was it a Porshe gt3 rd? It looked slightly quicker in a slower corner. Hopefully the Zr1 will make up the difference in higher speed corners and straight. Tho I worry how much drag will cut down its top end . I’m sure the GM engineers and driver will optimize their set up
God I pray for 6:55 or better time !!
I also can’t wait to see my next purchase testing and timing well. The mid engine C8

  6. Wow….rumors and BS…..I mean, think about this, the fastest time for a C7 Z06 manual Vette was set by a German car magazine (it seems GM’s time in 2015 at the track was saddled by rain, and they don’t have a shop there, they must fly there) the same car magazine which ran a Porsche 918 Spyder with the same time as a C7 Z06 (7:13 vs 7:13.90) when Porsche was able to pull 6:57. Maybe they were missing the similarly Z06 priced Weissach Package?. And the C7 Z06 auto should be faster around the track.
