2019 C7 Corvette ZR1 Slays NCM Motorsports Park, Sets New Lap Record

The 2019 C7 Corvette ZR1 has proven its a force to be reckoned with again and again. Now, we have more proof the ZR1 truly is king of the Corvettes.

The Corvette ZR1 set a new lap record at the National Corvette Museum Motorsports Park of 2:05.29. To be fair, it appears the sports car didn’t have much competition. A list of lap times shows previous records were set for the 2.87-mile-long “Grand Max Straight” track configuration. The Corvette ZR1 set its lap record on the 3.15-mile “Grand Full” course. The record holder for the Grand Max Straight configuration is still the Dodge Viper ACR with a 1:58.14.

We have a feeling the Corvette ZR1 will have something to say about that as well, especially with hot-shoe Andy Pilgrim behind the wheel. Pilgrim joined the NCM Motorsports Park earlier this year and drove the ZR1 to its record-setting time.

“I knew the new ZR1 was quick from my first drive at the Media Launch at Road Atlanta. Setting a production car lap record on OE tires at MSP by turning a 2:05.59 lap, let me know just how quick,” he said. “The ZR1 is an amazingly capable track car and phenomenal bang for the buck.”

  2. Baby steps as it appears if Chevrolet engineers are still trying to fine tune the suspension of the C7 Corvette ZR1 before they make their official attempt at the Nurburgring as they don’t appear to be satisfy with what the car.. maybe the rear wing need to grow just a little more as the Corvette C7.R appear to be a bit bigger and it might be needed to keep the rear tires planted for a Nurburgring run attempt.
