Chevrolet, GMC Land On Top 10 Vehicles To Reach 200,000 Miles List

Drivers of Chevrolet and GMC SUVs have one durable vehicle at their disposal. New research from iSeeCars, published on Monday, showed that four of the top ten vehicles to reach 200,000 are Chevrolet and GMC SUVs.

The research looked at 13.5 million vehicles to determine the percentage of models with over 200,000 miles on the odometer. On average, just 1.2 percent of a particular vehicle climbed over 200,000 miles. However, the Chevrolet Suburban ranked at number three with 5.2 percent of models achieving 200,000 miles or more.

Following the Suburban is the GMC Yukon XL (3.9 percent) in fifth place, Chevrolet Tahoe (3.8 percent) in sixth place and GMC Yukon (2.8 percent) in seventh place.

First place goes to the Toyota Sequoia with 6.6 percent of models climbing to at least 200,000 miles. The rest of the list features Toyota and Honda utility vehicles exclusively, and the Ford Expedition in second place.

Without SUVs or utility vehicles, the lineup changes drastically. Just three domestic cars beat the 1.2 percent average: Ford Taurus at 1.8 percent, Chevrolet Impala at 1.5 percent and Chrysler Pacifica at 1.3 percent.

  1. My first hand experience suggests different

I congratulate all the owners that spent a mountain of hard earned cash to repair defects and to replace low quality parts to make sure they are able to drive their vehicles longer

  2. We have four Suburbans at work all between 97-99 and three of them have over 240,000. Yes we have done work on them but mostly small things and general maintenance such as brakes, ball joints, etc. Engine and transmission have never been touched. Three have the 350 and one is a monster 454. We drive them all over the Pacific NW.

  5. I believe this report. As someone who would like to find a rust free west coast GM suv from 99 and up (Yukon/Tahoe/Escalade) they all have well over 100k. Sometimes 200+k. Owners just refuse to get rid of them…

  6. lets see…

    2001 Suburban: traded at 160k
2004 Yukon Denali: traded at 90k
2008 Acadia; traded at 138k, with a new trans, water pump, about 8 new headlights bulbs on each side, 2 new serpentine belts, and a new power steering pump (still didn’t fix the steering problem).
2011 Yukon XL: trade at 110k (stood up great in an accident that totaled a Lexus).
1996 Chevy C2500: traded at 142k, engine, drive line and trans untouched.
2001 Silverado 2500 Duramax: currently at 148k (recently replaced injectors, problem free otherwise).
    2016 Tahoe: currently at 26k.

The Acadia was the only GM product to give our company any real trouble. But then again, after owning multiple Cadillac’s and Pontiacs, there’s only been one that was problem free. I would buy a GM SUV without even looking elsewhere, but their sedans and CUVs…….. Ehhhhh.

  7. Great News to all of us who love our GM Cars, Trucks and SUV’s ?
We see the truth of these statistics everyday,as we travel the streets and highways of Nevada, Arizona and California. We are loyal, and committed to our GM vehicles, which include a 2015 Chevy Silverado LTZ, and a 2017 Chevy Impala, both of which will be with us, for many years to come ?? and our next addition, will be a GM Certified 2016 or 2017 Chevrolet Tahoe Premier. By the way, I was happy to see the Chevrolet Impala, and Ford Taurus on the List ? Two excellent American sedans!!

  9. Mom had a 97 Chevy Suburban, bought new, had to get a new transmission just before the warranty went out, but that was entirely my brother who thought it was a drag racer and not a soccer mom shuttle, but it stayed in the family almost 20 years and went to its current owners with about 340,000 miles on it. That thing couldn’t be killed if you tried.
