2019 Silverado RST Caught In The Wild: Picture Gallery

When Chevrolet first announced the all-new 2019 Silverado, it mentioned a total of eight trim levels, one of which was the new Silverado RST. Though the 2019 Silverado order guide has the complete list of information on the 2019 Silverado RST, we haven’t yet seen how the model would look like – until today, when our spy shooter captured the truck roaming around the streets of Michigan completely undisguised.
As a reminder, the Silverado RST – or Rally Sport Truck – is essentially an LT trim level Silverado wearing a street-performance appearance packaged that includes body-color trim, full LED lighting (including foglamps, headlamps and taillamps) and up to 22-inch wheels with all-season tires.
The vehicle we see here is coated in the Red Hot color, and we have to say that the RST-specific exterior elements are quite attractive with the red hue and body-color bumpers, black accents (grille, sport bar and Chevy bowtie), and the gray wheels.
Unfortunately, the 2019 Silverado RST won’t have the brawn to back up its hot looks, since the trim level will only be available with the 5.3L L84 V8 mated to an 8-speed automatic. In other words, the more powerful 6.2L L87 V8 engine and GM 10-speed automatic transmission are not even available as an option on the RST, according to the official GM order guide for the new Silverado.
The 2019 Silverado RST is the second (or third, depending on how you count it) Chevrolet truck with the RST package. The first was the 2018 Tahoe RST as the Suburban RST. Chevrolet is treating RST not as a performance package, but rather as an appearance pack analogous to the RS option on Chevy cars such as the Sonic, Cruze, Malibu and Camaro.
Sport bar looks terrible. Teuxk looks good but I wish the wheels had a slightly lower offset.
i would like to see one with tow mirrors like the 2500 and 3500
Here ya go:

Looks really good!
I’m really sorry to say this, but I think RAM is going to eat Chevy alive this generation.
Based on the amount of complaining about this new truck you are probably right.
If i were on the truck design team I’d be pissed with how things turned out. I have a feeling GM is going to be rushing out a refresh after two years like theyve done with other models recently. Is this trend showing the impact of Ed Welburn’s retirement and how much influence he had?
The exterior of the Silverado and the Sierra are just fine, best in class even. But GM better get an all new from the ground up interior ready ASAP. Ram will destroy the GM twins in the interior department. Mechanistically I still like what GM has done but crazy they offer no Voltec at all.
I highly doubt it. The general public works even know the Ram is all new as it looks the same.
These look 10 years newer than the new Ram. Ram will surge in 19 and resort to enormous discounts like they always do.
I disagree, I think the new Ram inside and out is gorgeous. I WOULDNT BUY ONE. But you can’t deny the designers pulled off something great.
Well, interestingly, some of the Mopar forums are complaining that it DOESN’T look like a Ram anymore and a lot don’t like it.
yea the lack of crosshair grille up people
I disagree. I saw both at the Detroit auto show. Everyone was in love with the RAM. It even got an award at the show for best new vehicle or best design or something like that.
In the high-end unlimited money market, yes. In the lower to upper middle end market, maybe not. I just went on Ram’s online configurator and the pricing is outrageous. In Canada, a tradesman (base model) quad cab v8 4×4 starts at $49,000 CAD. For comparison, the current gen Silverado LT Z71 4×4 (which is very well equipped) with the 5.3 starts at $46,000 CAD. Seems like a no-brainer to me. If Chevy keeps their pricing close to where it is at now, then I think the new Silverado will do just fine.
I don’t see it. The Ram went from boldest looking truck to blandest looking truck real quick. It’s now the minivan of pickups.
5.3 in an RST?? Gotta be a joke. Come on already GM!
As a GM loyalist, I’m disappointed. The front end is terrible, the headlights are really weird.
GM needs a new design department.
But I still hopes it sells well, from that depends the future of GM.
Seriously, just give me a Regular Cab with a 6.2L V8 already!
What exactly is GM afraid will happen? That folks will actually *buy* such a truck, like they already are from RAM?
I want to know what group of people Chevy polled about the looks of the sport bar. It looks terrible.
And there is that ill placed antenna. Why can’t they center it and have it body colored?
Willing to bet 90% of the people calling it ugly now, will be at the dealer in a couple years leasing and/or buying one.
Do you remember all the people who said the current model would not sell? And what happened to that truck? Sold 60k units a month!
Where are all the people who said all the gloom and doom? That’s right no where to be found because they were wrong just like the people who are saying this truck is a failure!
The people are going to have to bite their lips because of what they say about this truck being a failure!
It’s going to be a success and sell in huge numbers just like before!
Sold 60K units probably cuz the ones that were waiting to get a ’19 found out how horrible they are, and settled for an ’18.
“Rally Sport” and “Truck” do not coincide. GM’s Rally Sport moniker has always been an aesthetics package for cars. I don’t know what they’re trying to accomplish here. A roll-bar out of a JC Whitney catalog, some body colored moldings and, uh…not much else. What is the purpose? No ground clearance to speak of and just simply nothing aggressive about it. I’m a GM guy through and through, but for some reason, they just love slapping some cheap looking parts on a car, truck or SUV and saying it’s a special package. Stop it!
Not a fan of the bar either, completely unpractical and non-functional in any way, but it will create blind spots and make it more difficult to load and unload things in the bed.
However, overall I like the look. Still not a fan of the swoop in the door and the mirrors look like they came out of the same JC Whitney catalog you are talking about, except one from the 70’s or 80’s.
GM hasn’t had decent ground clearance on a 1/2 ton in decades and the 2 inch suspension lift they are offering (not on the RST I suppose) is the first attempt at GM to start heading in the right direction for those that want it, so I see some hope.
The more I look at that front end the more I think about how much mud is going to get in there and be a b*tch to wash out. I know, that’s not an issue for 80% of truck buyers, but snow and ice too for that matter.
Not a huge fan of those fang things on the front fenders where they meet the bumper.
Otherwise the truck looks very nice. Looking forward to seeing more of it. I would not opt for the sport bar thingy either.
The High Country model looks amazing IMO.
Every time I see a US pick up truck, I can’t help but hear “Duelling Banjos” playing in my head – “yee haar get that little piggy son! sooooo-weeee”. 😛
It would look great without that cheesey sport bar.
So remove the bar after you purchase the truck!
You’ve just paid GM’s premium pricing for it.
You have two options;
-Remove it and stack it with some other junk in your garage
-Attempt to sell it for a fraction of the retail price
Either way, you’re boned.
Well I probably just wouldn’t add the option in the first place. What I was trying to get at is I actually like the way the truck looks in this picture (aside from the sport bar).
buy a tractor!!!
I’m really trying to like the new Silverado, but it’s got a face that only a mother can love.
GM and there utter refusal to put top engine choices in anything other than the most costly trim levels is going to bite them hard especially when pitted against the competition. And worse the all new RST sport truck that has the looks will be out accelerated by any garden variety 5.7 Tundra even dating back to 2007. Whoever green lighted this should be given walking papers.
