2019 Cadillac XT5 Gets New Colors, Improved Wireless Charging & More

The XT5 is Cadillac’s best-selling model: it’s a relatively good vehicle in a segment that’s growing every month. And for the 2019 model year, the XT5 is getting a host of updates that should tide it over until the XT5 refresh lands for the 2020 model year.

On the outside, the 2019 Cadillac XT5 does away with three exterior colors while gaining four new ones:

Deleted Colors

  • Red Passion Tintcoat
  • Midnight Sky Metallic
  • Deep Amethyst Metallic

New Colors

  • Manhattan Noir Metallic
  • Shadow Metallic
  • Red Horizon Tintcoat
  • Dark Mocha Metallic

Refer to this page outlining the 2019 XT5 updates to see availability info for the new colors.

What’s more, the 20-inch Ultra Bright machined faced wheels with Midnight Silver accents now become available on the Luxury trim, while the 20-inch 12-spoke fully polished wheels become available on the Luxury and Premium Luxury trims.

Inside, the 2019 Cadillac XT5 deletes the Carbon Plum color with Jet Black accents as well as the LPO (accessory) level rear-seat DVD entertainment system. On the Platinum trim, the micro-suede material that is currently on the instrument mid-panel gets replaced with a material referred to as “Provence leather”.

The rest of the changes are associated with in-vehicle technology, and are as follows:

  • Inclusion of Driver Awareness Package as standard on Luxury trim level
  • Inclusion of Driver Assist Package as standard on Platinum trim level
  • Removal of Wireless Phone Charging from XT5 (base) trim level
  • Addition of second-generation Wireless Phone Charging, which includes higher power and larger charging surface area that’s compatible with iPhone and Android phones equipped for wireless charging on Luxury, Premium Luxury & Platinum trim levels

And that rounds out what’s new for the 2020 Cadillac XT5. The vehicle is due for a refresh for the 2020 model year, consisting of revised front and rear ends, and potential updates to the interior and technology.

About Cadillac XT5

2017 Cadillac XT5 Platinum Exterior Review 020

The Cadillac XT5 is a midsize crossover that replaced the Cadillac SRX. Currently the only crossover in the Cadillac lineup, the vehicle will soon be flanked by a smaller Cadillac XT4 and a larger crossover believed to be the Cadillac XT6.

Currently in its first generation, the XT5 was introduced for the 2017 model year. The vehicle is based on the regular-length wheelbase variant of the GM C1 platform shared with the second-generation GMC Acadia and upcoming, future Chevrolet Blazer. A longer-wheelbase variant of the same platform underpins the second-gen Chevrolet Traverse and Buick Enclave.

For the 2018 model year, the XT5 gets several new exterior colors, a new “base” trim level that offers all-wheel-drive, the Rear Seat Reminder technology, and various new accessories. The 2019 model year sees the introduction of various new colors, the introduction of second-generation wireless smartphone charging, and a re-arrangement of a few equipment on the model’s trim levels.

For North American markets, the Cadillac XT5 is built exclusively at the GM Spring Hill factory in Tennessee operated by GM USA. For the Chinese market, the vehicle is built at the Cadillac China Jinqiao factory operated by GM China.

  1. You stated the micro suede is replaced with micro suede. Is the micro suede replaced with something else?
    Thank you

  2. They got rid of the Carbon Plum interior??? That was my favorite! Man, they had better add another interior color to it then instead of the black, beige and great/white they have now. Hopefully bring Kona Brown, and Morello Red to it. I’ve only been requesting those two options at every Cadillac meeting/training that I go to!

  3. So we won’t see the blacked-out grill that CT6 is getting and the XT4 has ?
I’d like to see the Maple Sugar trim available on the Premium Luxury models , I think that is about the best there is .
Poor purple , it seems GM keeps bringing that exterior color out only to axe it the next .
Mine is black inside and it goes very well with the Graphite Metallic , but glad for the big sunroof to lighten it up inside . And so far haven’t had a bit of trouble with it , still no squeeks or rattles and plowed through pur Michigan winter with ease . I wonder if people know that the tires are filled with nitrogen so you don’t get that fluctuation in tire pressure like you get when the air temperature changes ( like from cold in winter to hot in summer ) .

    1. The grill refresh is next year.

Most automakers keep the traditional colors and vary the tone and color of the rest to get people to buy it while you get it.

  4. I would love to see the new signature DRLs in the front and the taillights extending down to the gray part of the bumper. Hopefully we’ll see it in 2020.

  5. Still no news on whether Cadillac’s XT5 or the upcoming XT6 will be getting access to Cadillac’s exclusive 550 hp LTA Twin-Turbo 4.2L DOHC-4v V8; one would think there would be plans to build a LTA variant of almost every Cadillac vehicle in the fleet.

  6. Eliminating wireless phone charging on the base model is “improved wireless charging” at Cadillac. Penny-ante ways Cadillac alienates customers. Great job!
