2019 Cadillac CT6 V-Sport Wagon Rendering: We Can Dream, Right?

We’ll eat our collective hat at GM Authority if Cadillac were to ever produce such a car, but hey, we can dream. We’re talking about a 2019 Cadillac CT6 V-Sport wagon.

The rendering comes from Kleber Silva who imagined an enthusiast’s dream vehicle with a sharp roofline leading into a functional rear hatchback for the 2019 CT6 V-Sport. The entire design works so very well and the rear end translates to the wagon body with ease. Under the hood is none other than Cadillac’s new 4.2-liter LTA twin-turbo V8 engine making 550 horsepower and 627 pound-feet of torque. Form, function and power at its best in our eyes.

Of course, we have zero evidence to suggest Cadillac will release such a product any time soon, if ever. The last wagon from Cadillac was the cult-classic CTS wagon, which also came as a V-series. Looking to the future, Cadillac’s plans include more crossovers, two new sedans and perhaps a liftback flagship vehicle based on the Escala concept.

The American consumer has largely fallen out of love with the wagon body style since last century, but that didn’t stop Buick from green-lighting the Regal TourX. Maybe there’s hope for a CT6 wagon… but probably not.

  1. The taillights should go all the way up the D-pillar like with the CTS wagon.

Other than that the car looks absolutely fantastic!!

  2. Sign me up. Had a CTS wagon—loved it!

  3. Another wagon that no one will buy. Sad.

Raise it up and call it an XT6 and it may just sell. Cadillac needs an Omega based CUV.

    1. After the Lincoln Aviator, Cadillac’s product planning team ought to be dragging Mary Barra back to the drawing board for the VSS program, and Cadillac’s CUV portfolio.

The Ford execs already confirmed that the Aviator is more of a prototype than a concept, and Lexus is working on a larger 3-row based on the LS/LC.

If the XT6 turns out to be a warmed-over Traverse/Enclave, Lincoln AND Lexus will eat their lunch in the +$70k CUV segment.

      1. More importantly, why is GM the only manufacturer to use an agricultural based solid rear axle on a luxury SUV in the 21st century? Who in their right mind would pay 100 grand for a vehicle without and independant suspension? It’s insane. Even the old Navigator made the transition 17 years ago.

          1. Lots of people are stupid buying a glorified pick-up truck. Out the door with taxes and options, they are very close to 100K.

Look where the escalade is rated. Dead last and the worst that the brand offers.

              1. Only in the US and that isn’t enough in the long-term. I don’t care. It’s just an outdated, grotesque monstrosity which is only aspirational for rednecks.

  4. I would like a coupe too

  5. If they liked them in China, it would be built, but no such demand exists, so not going to happen. Many liked the Elmiraj concept car shown a few years ago, but zero chance it makes production for the same reason……..Chinese don’t buy coupes!

    1. Well part of that is accurate. The other issue is the Alpha and Omega could not be used for the Elmiraj production. Neither would fit the spec needed.

  6. I had two wagons before and both were great, having a sedan wheelbase but carrying more cargo inside. Now I have GM’s best CUV, the Chevy Equinox, and I am waiting for a hybrid wagon or CUV. The Cadillac XT4 is a candidate if it comes with an electric power train for 2020.

  10. I’m not convinced. I don’t think the renderings have really ‘sold me’ on a CT6 wagon.

  11. Nice conceptual drawing but will not happen to CT6 . Possibly one of the newer sedans coming would offer a wagon similar in size to the Buick Tour-X .
Would it be possible to render a coupe of CT6 ? That would be an awesome looking car and call it the CT6-2 AWD . Or Eldorado . “E”ldorado , “E”scala , “E”lmiraj and “E”scalade . 😉 .

  12. Cadillac President Johan de Nysschen should give the green light for the CT6 Sport Wagon if the design cost to develop is similar to the CTS Sport Wagon which according to Motor Trend’s Jonny Lieberman in 2012 said Cadillac engineers told him only 39 CTS Sport Wagons needed to be sold to recoup all of the engineering and development cost; one thing is for sure, those who bought the CTS Sport Wagon (especially with the supercharged 6.2L V8 and manual transmission) absolutely loved their cars (imagine someone with a CTS-V Sport Wagon trading it in for a CT6 Vsport Wagon).

  13. IMO, the CTS Wagon was the best looking premium luxury wagon of all time, very chiselled and sharp looking at the time. The wagons from the European luxury brands looked bland by comparison and did not stand out in traffic.

  14. The simple facts are the market dynamics – what’s hot and what’s not – are biased toward CUVs and SUVs in the utility space; wagons don’t sell in any sort of numbers that GM are interested in.

    1. Unless you want to pay well over $100K for your V8 rocket sled (similar market: cf. AMG E-class wagon with 4.0L V8 bi-turbo engine, STARTING from $106,950 BEFORE accessorizing…)

GM would need $100K min. per unit to pay for tooling the assembly line, engineering, wagon specific parts, safety testing, road validation, marketing, etc etc. And there’s a distinct possibly they don’t break even on small volumes, because the market for rocket-sled wagons is so specialized.

  15. Yeah, right….How about giving potential customers what they want?? Don’t cry baby with lost sales when you can’t provide the stock for CURRENT models. Yes, I’m raising the BS flag. I’m disgusted….. I KNOW this first hand….

  16. Bring Back the CTS V6 AWD wagon. Mine has 106k miles on it and I am going to drive it until it dies.
I freakin’ love this car and would buy another if it hit the market.
