2019 C7 Corvette ZR1 Hits The Dyno, Makes 668 HP At The Wheels: Video

We have our first video of the 2019 C7 Corvette ZR1 being strapped onto the dyno, and we finally have an idea of how much power the car’s 6.2-liter supercharged LT5 V8 engine is sending to the wheels.

It’s a rather strong 668 horsepower and 644 pound-feet of torque. Not too shabby at all. Two additional runs show the C7 Corvette ZR1 made 664 hp, while the torque figured varied slightly at 637 lb-ft and 634 lb-ft. As we all know, the ZR1 makes a whopping 755 hp and 715 lb-ft of torque at the crank.

Aside from the final numbers, which don’t come until the very end of the video, we advise skipping through most of it. A lot of the video is chatter among individuals. We just want the numbers, gosh dang it.

Otherwise, stick around for the monstrous noises the ZR1 emits from the exhaust as the dyno does its thing.

  1. Don’t know if it will make much of a difference but this ZR1 is a manual….

    1. Manuals always dyno ~3-5% higher. The torque converter robs the auto trans.

    2. It does. Figure 12% for manual straight axle, 3% auto, 3% IRS. That’s a healthy number.

  2. 11.5% loss to between the crank and the wheels. Not too shabby.

    1. its a joke. i put in like 20k into my z06 and it will smoke this thing for 30k less. this is really just a z06 with more HP and of course the better cooling which you can add.

Same janky 8l90 trans which needs to be TCM tuned to even have a chance in hell.

  3. the torque is pathetic. my modded z06 blows this away by far with over 720lbs at the wheel. this thing is a joke. The only thing your getting over a z06/z07 is better cooling and a bit more performance.

    1. You’re comparing a modded car to a bone stock car.

For example, I could dump a 502 crate engine into an old Vega, strap a blower to that, dust your Z06 on the 1/4 mile and save ~$30k. It’s all in what you want.

      1. what am i trying to point out is its really just an upgrade. its not like the old c6 zr1 which was a completely different car. You had mag ride and a SC motor and CC brakes over the z06. The big win here is the cooling so Tad and GM dont get sued. But for 19k plus 73k I paid used I believe my car is faster then this and can run on E85. Without e85 you are at the mercy of the sht Gas in most states.

So here your paying 140k for basically a souped up c7 z06 with DI and PI which is nice and standard CC brakes and the COMP Seats which are also nice. Again the big win is the better cooling with more radiators.

        1. Clearly you’re just sour you don’t have the baddest Vette available any longer.

I’ve modified a lot of vehicles and if it’s new, factory “modded” is ALWAYS the way to go.

          1. factory is not where its at for the corvette. Who wants to run on crappy 91 gas ! It probably wont even put that power out in CALI. It was DYNOD in PA where they have 93 octane. you dummy

My Z06 runs on full e85 which is effectively 105 octane for 2$ per gallon. Sounds like you dont know too much about modded cars.

Plus the TCM is not tuned either. Not sure what tuning the 8l90 has for the ZR1 but its pathetic stock with throttle cutoff so you fall forward stock. Mine you get slammed back on almost every shift. So no dude your 1000% wrong. Stock is not the way too go at all.

            1. By looking at your grammar, or I should say lack of, I’m surprised that you are educated enough to have a job that enables you to even afford a Corvette. Not knowing when to use “your” vs “you’re” and “to’ vs “too” lends me to believe that you’re not real smart.

            2. Again, you’re comparing a modded car vs. a bone stock car. If you’re so disgruntled that GM upped the ante on the Z06, take it up with them. Since the resurgence of the car in ’01 it has always been an NA, fixed roof, track-oriented machine. When GM released the C7 Z06 in ’15, they decided to go forced induction, gave the option for CC brakes (et al), and even gave the option for a convertible. I don’t know what else GM could have done to the ’19 ZR1 in order to make it a “completely different car”. Perhaps they should’ve added an F404 jet engine out of an F/A-18 Hornet??? The ZR1 has its own body design/panels, its own wheel design, its own 755hp LT5, its own mag-ride suspension, etc., etc..

Again, take it up with GM and demand they take the Z06 down a peg for the C8.

            3. I think the big problem here is you bought an automatic Z06… What car guy does that? So sad when they made that an option as it opened up the flood gates to be owned by people such as you (old guys with no driving skill and will never see a track). I bet it is a convertible as well huh? Go complain somewhere else that you don’t have the top model Corvette, your cries are falling on deaf ears here…

              1. I own an 800 hp car but no skill. Ok dude whatever your mommy tells you.

You sound completely clueless about modern cars. I have driven manual gearboxes before you were in diapers moron. I owned a 67 ss 396 back in the day.

Tell me dude how many new rarris mclarens lambos r8s or gtrs are manuals fool. And i have driven all these dufus unlike your clueless butt. Dc trans is where its at and the zr1 with the 8l90 falls short here along with my mega bad ass z06/z07

                1. If you owned a 67 Vette back in the day as you said, then you must be well into your sixties or seventies. What seventy year old refers to everyone as “dude”? Me thinks one of two things, you’re either a lying illiterate from Appalachia country or you were born with a silver spoon in your mouth and never really had to work a day in your life

      2. No dumbass. Thats apples vs oranges. The zr1 is a cooling mod for a z06.

        1. Wait. My apologies for being insulting. That was very inappropriate of me. I got carried away and there is no excuse for doing so and your right I probably don’t have the brains to pour piss out of a boot with the directions on the sole. But that’s okay since I probably desrve to have squishy, smelly socks from putting my feet in those boots after such poor behavior. It will not happen again.
