Gather round for one of car enthusiasts’ strangest pastimes: tug-of-war challenges. As it sounds, both cars strap up to each other to see which car will pull the other.
In this case, it’s a third-generation Chevrolet Camaro versus a Tesla Model X. We’re going to spoil what happens right now: the Tesla wins.
Why? Many factors doomed the Camaro’s results from the start. The Model X is all-wheel drive, which means it already has a traction advantage. Secondly, its four electric motors provide instantaneous torque to pull the Camaro. Chevy’s pony car is making do with a single engine with one peak torque curve. It’s basically over before it even begins.
There are only a few seconds of stalemate before the Model X starts dragging the Camaro down the road. What does it all accomplish? Nothing. But, we suppose it’s kind of fun to watch. Have a look for yourself above.

You mean to tell me that a nearly 6000 lb AWD car with 4 seperate engines producing a total of over 500 horsepower can drag a 3200 lb 200hp RWD 3rd generation Camaro with plain skinny tires?
No way…
And just where was the Tesla in 1982? ooh yea, it would be on GM’s drawing board some 14 years in the future. They could at least used the model 3, or were they concerned about that cars quality issues leading to an embarrassing glitch or failure.
Lets see it pull a Duramax 4×4 if an equal HP tune.
two wheel drive vs four wheel drive.. it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see where this will go… why ? Really , why?
So that Musk can earn his $50B!
He’s all about the steady strategically timed PR work to keep investors pockets open!
this tug of war between a new tesla and a 70’s Camaro is totally nonsense , I mean what do you think people are that stupid to see this wasn’t fair.
Not a 70s Camaro… late 80’s to early 90’s.
I would have dragged him backwards at over 100mph until the cord ripped or that Camaro flipped over. Lol
Driving the Tesla like that insured one thing. A quick drag to a charging station before the batteries run out!
The Camaro was one wheel drive see the smoke? omg, more publicity stunts from Musk to keep the sheep pouring in $$$
Tesla Model S and X are the new muscle car. Lots of torque, hp, and weighs a ton (actually 2 & 1/2 half ton!). It is very fast in a straight line and that’s it. It tracks terribly. The funniest thing is people on electric car blog claim it has supercar performance… umm no, just no. It accelerate very fast, I’ll give it that.
They will soon be bankrupt. 1st quarter earnings are expected to announce a 30 to $40,000 loss per car sold.
