Chevrolet will continue its sponsorship as the official truck of the Sports Car Club of America, or SCCA. Chevrolet and the SCCA announced the continued partnership on Wednesday.
For Chevy’s part, the brand provides multiple Chevrolet Silverado pickups and an Express cargo van for SCCA events. The vehicles will haul three National Solo equipment trailers to 30 SCCA events across the U.S. this year. The 70,000 miles most certainly give Chevrolet and the Silverado plenty of exposure. Perhaps enough to convince sports car owners to trailer their cars in with a Chevy pickup.
“We’re ecstatic Chevrolet has again chosen to support the SCCA in 2018,” Cobb said. “Trucks play a large role in the lives of our members, whether it is towing a racecar, helping their business operate or serving as a family vehicle.”
The Silverados on hand will be 2500HD models with the 6.6-liter L5P Duramax V8 engine, good for 445 horsepower and 910 pound-feet of torque.
“Chevrolet has a long history in performance and racing, and supports the efforts of SCCA racers from all around the country. Chevrolet also has a long history and tradition of building durable, long-lasting trucks that get the job done when pulling a trailer full of race cars, parts and equipment, which is why we’re excited about this partnership,” Jim Campbell, vice president of Performance Vehicles and Motorsports, said.

Now would be the time to launch a sport edition Silverado. Maybe use as pace vehicle ? Something lowered with wide wheels and tires on a regular cab short box. Imagine a truck like that on a paved road course.
According to http://www.businessinsider.com/best-selling-trucks-in-america-2018-3
GM sold 948,909 full size/mid-size trucks last year, had they been a little more aggressive in advertising and or promotion’s they could have hit the 7 figure.
I know it’s not always about the sales numbers, but with the new full size models coming later this year. They need to move the current trucks off the lot’s. It could have been a clever marketing campaign and a great target for dealerships to try and repeat!
I have been a Duramax Chevy 2500HD owner for several years. I just traded a 2015 for a new 18 2500HD Duramax truck, before the 15 model I had a 2011 truck, what I’m concerned about is the poor mileage I’m getting with this new truck ?? The 2015 truck had no problem getting between 18-22 miles per gallon driving down the hiway with pulling nothing, so far this new truck is having a tough time getting 17 miles, in fact when I have my 50 mile average it’s closer to 14-15 miles as best, is there a reason for this ?? I know they raised the power on this new 2018 truck, but with the loss of mileage I’m not sure it is worth it ??
