Police responded after a Chevrolet HHR exploded when the driver lit a cigarette immediately after using a body spray, The Baltimore Sun reported last Thursday.
The Chevrolet HHR immediately exploded after the driver apparently used a large amount of the aerosol deodorant and flicked his lighter, even though the air conditioning was running and the front windows were down. The explosion blew the windows out, pushed the car doors open and caused the roof to expand, a police spokesperson said.
Thankfully, the flames were not sustained and the driver, who apparently worked for a catering company, was not seriously injured. He was taken to the hospital for potential hearing damage following the explosion.
It’s probably best to keep the body spray for at home use, and not mix fire with aerosol sprays.

Or not use horrible bodyspray in the first place. Axe should be banned and declared chemical warfare.
If he used that much of it…kinda serves him right.
Chevrolet can take every precaution to make their vehicles safe…but you can’t fix stupid.
There no way GM or any automaker can anticipate stuff like this, as most every single car on sale today isn’t built to withstand and protect it’s occupants from internal explosions.
Also, no car on sale today can protect it’s occupants from the following risky behaviour while inside a car:
– Punching a wasp nest
– Water balloon fights
– Needlepoint with grandma
– GTAV-style cop taunting
– Late season brush burning
– Propane BBQ-ing
– Minimally invasive surgery
– Steel smelting
– Glass recycling
– Sharps container ‘unboxing’
and so forth.

Imagine if there was food in the vehicle with all the spray?
