Global Cadillac Sales Increase 42.5 Percent To 30,583 Units In February 2018

Global sales of new Cadillac vehicles totaled 30,585 units in February 2018, an increase of 42.5 percent year-over-year, marking the 21st consecutive month of global sales growth for the brand.

“February was a strong month for Cadillac, especially for our SUV portfolio where we saw continued growth with the Escalade despite new competition in the U.S. marketplace,” said Cadillac President Johan de Nysschen. “We expect this enthusiasm to grow with the addition of the first-ever 2019 Cadillac XT4 premium compact SUV, which will be revealed later this month.”

In the first two months of 2018, global Cadillac sales increased 20.9 percent to 61,916 units.

February 2018 Cadillac Sales By Model

Cadillac did not provide sales on a per-model basis for February, something the brand ceased doing at the end of 2016.

It did, however, state that sales of the Cadillac XT5 luxury crossover and Cadillac Escalade helped drive February’s sales increase.

February 2018 Cadillac Sales By Market

Cadillac sales increased in the United States and China while decreasing in Canada:

  • Cadillac sales in the United States increased 14 percent or 1,515 units to 12,338 units:
    • Retail sales increased 6.8 percent or 650 units to 10,261 vehicles
    • Fleet sales increased 71.4 percent or 865 units to 2,077 vehicles
    • Notably, Escalade retail sales increased 9.3 percent, continuing its upward trend in gaining market share; additionally, sales of the XTS, CT6 and ATS all saw significant gains
  • Cadillac sales in China increased 86.5 percent to 16,850 units
  • Cadillac sales in Canada decreased 1.1 percent to 746 units:
    • Retail sales decreased 6.1 percent to 629 vehicles
    • Fleet sales totaled 117 vehicles
  • Cadillac sales in all other regions (ROW, or Rest of World) decreased 23.1 percent to 649 units

Cadillac did not provide individual sales figures for Mexico, Europe and South Korea or the Middle East, instead including sales from those markets in the single ROW (Rest of World) line item. It did, however, say that sales in South Korea and Japan “saw strong gains.” In addition, the brand stated that sales in the Middle East, an important and growing export market, faced hurdles with the introduction of sales tax and continuing economic headwinds, resulting in a decline of overall sales volumes but in an increase in market share
