Yesterday, we brought you pictures of the 2020 Silverado HD Dually, which looks astoundingly massive in the Crew Cab configuration. Today, we have photos of the 2020 Sierra HD in the Regular Cab, Long Bed configuration and Work Truck trim level.
An earlier version of this story incorrectly identified the truck as a Chevrolet Silverado, rather than a GMC Sierra. Please stick with us as we update the article.
Regular Cab models can seat up to three people, but that’s not their strong suit. Instead, these trucks are all about carrying cargo, and the eight-foot bed in this prototype makes for the most versatile payload capabilities.
We would imagine that the 2020 Silverado HD will also benefit from the new bed design introduced in the all-new 2019 Silverado 1500. Facilitated by new stamping techniques, the new bed is seven inches wider in the 2019 Silverado 1500 compared to the bed in the K2 platform Silverado before it. A similar improvement for the Silverado Heavy Duty would result in a truly voluminous bed, especially in models configured with the long bed seen here – enabling the trucks to handle an even higher workload.
The next-gen Silverado HD, comprised of the 2020 Silverado 2500HD and 2020 Silverado 3500HD, will adopt the new T1 platform and styling of the smaller 2019 Silverado 1500. The trucks are expected to wear a variant of the bold face of the new Silverado half-ton, while benefits from various usability and convenience improvements already seen on its smaller brother, such as a more aerodynamic cab, a more space-efficient and stronger bed, significantly lighter weight, improved CornerStep bumpers and much more.
The 6.6L Duramax L5P diesel engine, introduced for the 2017 Silverado HD, will carry over. In addition, a new gasoline engine is expected to replace the archaic 6.0L L96 V-8.
The 2020 Silverado HD family is expected to launch in the 2019 calendar year as 2020 model year vehicles.

At first glance I thought this was a GMC because of the grill, but after looking at the non-rounded wheel wells and center caps on the wheels, I am certain this is a GMC.
It’s good to see that frame somewhat tucked in. But why torsion bars? can’t they just do the springs, or air bags?
Is there something wrong with torsion bars? my 07 Classic had them and they seemed ok. Getting the frame up and the DEF tank moved would be better than my 2017 Denali.
They do their job, but I feel that springs or air suspension would do it better.
Nice to see the new tow mirrors. Hopefully Will be a standard option on the HD’s and at least a option on the 2019 half ton trucks
Should be a good truck. Good size, nice design
Upping the ante on the my-grille-is-bigger-than-yours war. They are now swallow-a-pedestrian-whole size and approaching motorcycle or Smart car.
Strange that it’s so heavily clad in body armour, especially since the 1500 body styles have been revealed…..not to mention the wheel well shape seems to lack the ‘angular’ shape as the 2019 1500. I’m thinking GM is possibly going to ‘separate’ the HD’s from the 1500’s – same as Ford has done…
Anyone have a idea what is replacing the 6 Liter?
