The 2019 Cadillac CT6 refresh is front and center at the 2018 New York Auto Show, so we snapped 30 high-quality images of the updated sedan and are sharing them with you here. To note, we believe that the model on display is a 2019 CT6 Platinum with the 3.0L Twin-Turbo V6 LGW engine.
Once you’re done looking through this set, check out our 2019 Cadillac CT6 V-Sport with the new Cadillac 4.2L Twin Turbo V8 LTA engine here: 2019 Cadillac CT6 V-Sport live photo gallery.

Loving the refresh and soooo happy they took the grill right off the Escala and put it on the CT6. The refresh and even the XT4 seem to evoke an Audi look to me, in a good way. The front end has a very commanding/menacing look compared to the 2016-2018 design
Looks like a nice CTS “limo”
Small changes in the interior…
I love that color and the refresh only makes a beautiful car better looking. Cadillac really nailed it with this car’s proportions and stance. They are simply perfect and now with a proper V-8 engine available, the car has become even more compelling. It only needs a new interior to be fully competitive. In the meantime better leather, wood and carpets would be an easy swap that would help the interior considerably.
Agree. My thoughts are exactly the same.
“To note, the model on display was a 2019 CT6 Platinum” ugh, I was hoping they killed the Platinum name with the new “Y” strategy.
The new front is very cool. Love the new girlle, about time Cadillac did the V shaped inserts! Hope it shows up on the Escalade asap. I see the night vision lens is now in the vent under the left headlight & the radar was moved to the lower grille, Making room for a real proper Cadillac crest.
Regarding the interior, I was hoping they get rid of the perforated leather surrounding the screen … no dice.
What’s with the speaker grilles though? Are some of them are metal (in the rear) & some are plastic (in the front)? Or is it just the lighting & angles?
Actually, we might be off about it being a Platinum… but the equipment it contains is what the 2016-2018 Platinum models have. We tried to find out the exact trim level at the show but no dice… so we’ll have to wait for the 2019 CT6 order guide to find out for sure.
I personally like that perforated leather horizontal insert on the dash… although I do wish it were softer (like in the XT5).
Regarding the speaker grilles: it’s the lighting. So difficult to capture a good, evenly-lit shot in the ultra-bright and uneven spotlights of the show floor.
Killing Platinum would be a good move. Ironically, the one grille that would look good in all brushed metal ISN’T. This grille with metallic shields would be beautiful.
Actually, it looks like they are! I’m excited to see how it looks in person.
Let me tell you what I think will happen. Cadillac will start to outsell Benz, BMW, Audi and then the narrative will switch from Cadillac not being able to sale their cars to people saying Cadillac sales more luxury vehicles because they are cheaper priced.
Taking all the credit away from GM for building great luxury cars, cuvs, suvs!
Yea, the specs definitely fit the Platinum trim. Hopefully the lack of the “P” badge means its dead.
I’m not a fan of it, but hey it could’ve been worse… It could’ve been a piano black finish instead of the leather.
Thanks for answering my questions, Alex.
Yeah, the word Platinum doesn’t really have the same prestige it used to have, if it ever had it, when there are Fords with Platinum trim levels and Capital One Platinum Debit cards, its time to find another moniker, perhaps something like Fleetwood? It would necessitate a name change on the models, but adding Fleetwood as the top trim range would give Cadillac a nice nostalgic touch to its highest trim level,.
Definitely. A Cadillac should not share its top model name with Nissan & Ford.
While the Fleetwood name is cool & taps into Cadillac’s heritage, It comes with a lot of bad baggage for Cadillac & the demographics they are targeting.
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
The song is already playing in your head.
Noooo. Not again 🙂
Sweet mother of God.
Beautiful.
When you compare, side by side, the front end of the current 2018 CT6, to the new 2019 CT6, the refinements are substantial. The new grill is more upright, and the lower grill and related symmetrical edging in the front end, all come together, perfectly!
Same is true for the rear. More of an upright look, and all of the lines look like they are now properly placed. The new tail lights enhance the rear, very well.
It’s a high quality look, unique to the Cadillac brand.
This is a huge upgrade for the CT6. It looks great and having a V8 option makes it even more desirable. I hope they have a great ad campaign planned and sell a bunch.
(Now if only they would pair the V8 with the plug-in hybrid version so that there was a substantial performance improvement in Sport mode and efficiency improvement anytime else…)
I’m impressed that they even have the center caps on the wheels right-side up. Nice attention to detail!
God the CT6 is a beauty!
I’m not saying its bad at all, but am I the only one who finds the current Platinum grill more elegant and, well… better looking on the CT6?
Sadly, not much change inside. Other than what appears to be a leather cover on the steering wheel airbag and layout of console it is the same.
Personally find the super high gloss wood as cheap looking. Don’t don’t know why they never used natural like in my CTS Premium. Very elegant and not gaudy. There is still too much going on inside(too many finishes). There are two kinds of leather, high-gloss wood, carbon fiber, and of course the abundance of hard plastic. Very evident after owning model for a year.
Not really feeling it with the mesh grille disease that is spreading to many new cars and SUV’s. It’s okay on the sport versions but looks out of place to me on the luxury offering. Glad they ditched the undeserving 2.0T but wish they luxed up the interior more, especially the door panels. The Continental’s interior is far more impressive to my eyes and they offer more and better interior colors too.
Major kudo’s for offering the V8 on regular models and not just the V-Sport.
I love everything about the updated CT6 but the interior! The new 4.2L alone makes this the go-to large luxo sedan for me! However, I’m still not a fan of the interior design! Perhaps it’s the dark colors, but even with all the mixed materials lining the cabin, it still comes off as somewhat plain looking; at least compared to competitive models! That new Kia K900 sedan, which bears a bit of a stiking resembling to the current Lexus LS with its interior, has a more premium looking cabin! Otherwise I think the new CT6 should be quite successful!
The Kia K900 interior is boring and uninspired
The layout of the console is all new withe new rotary dial for CUE-3 , no more touch pad .
Some people like small touches of wood or carbon fiber or stainless , it’s all a personal preference . But todays wood trim is so much better than just a few years ago .
The same can be said of black interiors , it looks better in some outer colored cars than others . This blue looks good withe black but would like to see a tan interior ( maple sugar ) may be the name of it .
This 2019 already makes the current car look old .
And what’s up with another ” Zach ” on here !?! I am not a robot ! 😉
Nice pics , thanks .
I agree about small amounts of wood being tasteful. If you look at the photos, you will find there is much more than a touch. There is a large swath on the right side of the dash, large sections on the doors and console. You will notice in the one photo how light just “glares” off the passenger side of the dash, because of the tacky high gloss finish!
I love wood trim, but the high/gloss finish is not upscale. Just glares, reflects light, shows every spec of dust, and frankly every minor imperfection in the coating. Also looks cheap—too gaudy! For the year I have owned my 2017 Platinum I’ve thought the designer who thought this is tasteful should start working on Chevy Sparks!
I wish they would take the area behind the cup holders and “cut it out”.
Where the hell do automakers expect customers to put change and other small items? Up their rear end?
“Where the hell do automakers expect customers to put change and other small items?”
You’ve never worn pants with pockets?
As for coins, the demographic in this market is paying with plastic or their phones.
This is something we agree on making places for lose change is pointless!
Maybe in that little box to the left of the steering wheel that is designed specifically for that purpose?
Although generic, I like the new grill in the CT6. However, the V-Sport grill on the CT6 should be different and should be exclusive to V models only, not included w/ V-Sport.
The interior is still nice enough to be in. We don’t know what other interior color choices are new for ’19 other than what we see in the V-Sport. What is more important are certain things in the interior that are spruced up little at a time.
I like the CT6 a lot better now since it has a V8 with a 10 speed transmission. The current CT6 looks great still but the ’19 enhances the look by a major degree.
