Whipping Around Willow Springs In A 2015 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 NASA Race Car: Video

In case you missed it, Matt Farah has announced that he’ll soon stop producing “One Take” episodes, the content being phased out after Tuesday, February 27th. Not that the longtime automotive journalist is throwing in the towel; in the future, he’s aiming to deliver more substantial video “entrees” instead of  The Smoking Tire‘s limited-scope One Take “appetizers”.

In one of the final episodes, Matt has the privilege of driving Russ Taylor’s 2015 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 NASA race car, which has been built to Super Touring 2-class specifications. It utilizes the factory powertrain, which includes the beastly 7.0-liter LS7 V8 and tried-and-true Tremac 6-speed manual transmission.

Instead of adding more power, this Camaro Z/28 has undergone weight-reduction and aerodynamic modifications, gaining a weapons-grade front splitter and a big ol’ wing in the process. And you thought the rear visibility on your Camaro was bad.

Through it’s transformation, this Z/28 lost about 500 pounds over stock, slimming down to around the 3,300 mark.

To see Matt whip around Willow Springs in this certified Camaro race car, watch the video above.
