When Hennessey Performance Engineering revealed the Exorcist Camaro, it made quite a splash. Based on the 2017 Camaro ZL1, the HPE Exorcist packs 1,000 horsepower as a natural Dodge Demon killer. 959 of those ponies make their way to the rear wheels.
But, how fast will it go? HPE aimed to provide an answer with a top-speed run at a Continental proving ground in Texas. The track’s main straightaway is only one-mile long, but it was just enough to show where the Exorcist Camaro will top out. After muscling around a long, sweeping corner, the 1,000-hp Camaro cracks the 217 mph mark.
HPE says that bests a top-speed run of the standard Camaro ZL1, which runs tops out at 200 mph.
The tuning company plans to build 100 units per year at $55,000 for the entire package, not including the cost of the Camaro ZL1. Though, there are various options, such as an automatic transmission and a road race package.
Have a look at the run in the video up above.

When Hennessey Performance is willing to back up their work with a 3-year 36,000 mile bumper-to-bumper warranty then this will be something to consider; but for most people, the stock Chevrolet Camaro SS 1LE is fine.
Rumor has it that a GM engineer stated that a CTS-V cracked 217 at the GM proving track, so maybe the CTS-V was the original ‘Exorcist’.
A rumor without anything to back it up is just hot air.
Ford was claiming a much faster Ring time with the GT500 with a doctored video. It proved to be misleading fiction.
So that car is highly modified. The Daytona cars are highly modified. Both do about 200+. Beginning to think what’s the big deal… 😉
