Drift Corvette Gets Fitted With A Carbon/Kevlar Body Kit From HGK: Video

If you know what Formula Drift is, you’ve probably seen the bright blue, Falken-sponsored Nissan 240 S14 driven by pro drifter Matt Field. That was Field’s old car; for the 2018 season, Matt has decided to retire the S14 and build a Chevrolet C6 Corvette, instead.

The video above shows Matt and his team fitting the Corvette’s chassis with a kevlar body kit from HGK Racing. The kit includes a carbon-fiber rear firewall, which must be painstakingly cut to fit. Being able to watch what must be done in order to install all the hardware, we get to see why having clear, precise markings for where to drill and where to cut is crucial.

Field and his team also take this time to prepare the rear-end frame rail for the installation of the radiator and bash bar. We can’t wait to see this C6 in action throughout this year’s Formula D season.

If you’ve ever wondered what goes into building a formula drift car, then these “Field Prep” videos by Donut Media are for you.
