The GM Authority Take
Since production of the SS Sedan was discontinued in May 2017, the January sales volume represents run-out sales of SS vehicles in inventory. Last November, we reported that all SS models equipped with a manual transmission had been sold. As such, SS sales will continue dwindling until all remaining inventory models have been sold out.

About Chevrolet SS
Introduced for the 2014 model year, the SS Performance Sedan was Chevrolet’s first rear-drive performance sedan since 1996. Sold only in the United States (and not available in Canada or Mexico), the SS sedan was positioned as a four-door Corvette.
Based on the Zeta platform shared with the Holden Commodore (and its variants) and the fifth-generation Chevrolet Camaro, the SS sedan was developed and produced by Holden. It is essentially a Holden Commodore SS with left-hand-drive and a few other minor changes. The SS’ sole powerplant was the 6.2L LS3 V-8 engine. A six-speed automatic transmission was available at launch. A six-speed manual became available for the 2015 model year.
Production of the Chevrolet SS Sedan ended at the GM-Holden Elizabeth factory in South Australia on May 25th, 2017. The plant will shut down in October 2017, thereby marking the discontinuation of other vehicles on GM’s Zeta platform, including the Holden Commodore, Ute, and Caprice.

I can’t wait for tomorrow’s article as to the number of Cadillac ELR that were sold in JAN 2018.
You are more than welcome to skip over an article if it doesn’t interest you.
It’s a fantastic car. It’s a shame that GM didn’t import more of them and market it. I love my 2017 SS.
I wonder if this car would have sold better if it was labeled as a Buick or a Cadillac. I feel people might be more willing to buy a $45K car if it was part of an upscale brand…
Maybe. But the problem with it from the start was that it was priced too high… or perhaps that wasn’t a problem at all, and instead was strategic so as not to cannibalize sales of the Malibu or Impala.
Either way, Kia will have this segment all to its self, along with Dodge.
Hopeful GM is working on an upcoming CT5 based SS/Caprice replacement. Not everyone can afford or want the flash of a new Cadillac, nor want an FCA or a Kia stinker.
One thing that could have been (and maybe should have been) done different with pricing would be to offer a less equipped version? These cars are essentially fully equipped and GM could have easily offered one for about $42K. There were many versions and variants sold “down under” so it would not have been difficult to package or build. Why do this? It may have kept the cars moving off lots better and not required the 20% tag to get them moving?
I have about 23K on mine now and it’s doing well. The interior (specifically the seats) is wearing better than some recent GM vehicles I’ve had.
There is a total of 9 new in the whole country according to cars.com
$48K , I expect 0 new sales in the future
How many are left in inventory??
Dream to see next gen Impala on RWD Alpha 2 with many trims option from the L to the LTZ and a premier one. also an AWD option and of course an RS with the LF3 twin turbo V6 464 hp, an SS with the LT4 V8 650 hp and why not a a hardcore SSV with the LT5 750hp. an hybrid can be cool too. But it’s just a dream, keep dreaming.
GM needs to start competing with Dodge, they some performance vehicles to go with the. Vette,Camaro and the CTS v.Say rear drive Impala,2 door Malibu/Chevelle,Buick Grand National bring back the drive of the 1960’s
