The GM Authority Take
We believe that the ongoing decline in Regal deliveries is the result of limited inventory and reduced availability of the all-new Regal at the dealer level. The circumstance is the result of GM switching production from the last-, fifth-generation Regal to the all-new, sixth-generation model, which results in reduced inventories for roughly 60-90 days. Notably, the Regal Sportback began arriving on dealer lots in December while the Regal TourX started arriving in January.
As such, we expect to see Regal deliveries begin an upward trajectory in February or March, thereby closing the gap on its most direct rival – the Acura TLX.

About Buick Regal
The Buick Regal is a midsize-size premium passenger vehicle line that is currently in its sixth generation and slots above the compact Excelle and Verano (in China) and below the full-size LaCrosse (in North American and in China). The Regal family currently consists of the following models:
- Regal Sportback – a four-door Regal sedan with a liftback trunk
- Regal GS – a four-door Regal Sportback with several performance upgrades
- Regal TourX – a five-door ruggedized wagon
Buick revealed the all-new Regal in April 2017 at the New York Auto Show and the vehicles launched for the 2018 model year. The sixth-gen model is based on the GM E2 platform, which also underpins the 2016 and newer Chevrolet Malibu and upcoming Cadillac XT4. The Regal is also sold as the second-generation Opel-Vauxhall Insignia and the NG 2018 Holden Commodore in Australia and New Zealand by GM subsidiary Holden.
Prior to the launch of the sixth-gen model, the fifth-generation Regal was available for a total of seven model years, from 2011 thru 2017. That model rode on the GM Epsilon II platform also shared with the first-gen Opel-Vauxhall Insignia and eighth-generation Malibu.
The sixth-gen Buick Regal is built at the Opel Rüsselsheim plant in Germany for North America and at a Shanghai-GM plant operated by GM China for the Chinese market.

Comments
when GM realizes if you don’t package options properly and don’t have the right equipment the buyer will look elsewhere and also its not assembled in the USA
Yes they need to fix several things on this car.
1) The trim levels should have a few more features as std and the customer should be able to upgrade the safety tech on the lower trims.
2) The base 1SV should have a leather wheel and make the safety package an option
3) The Preferred should have XM radio and LED headlights plus remote start as std
4) The Preferred II should have std Side zone and lane change alert plus the 18″ wheels and leather seats
5) The Essence should have the driver’s confidence package as std
6) The GS should have paddle shifters and a heated rear seat as std
7) More exterior color choices
8) An additional interior color choice for the GS like a reg, brown or blue. Even a Camry XSE gives you these options
I thought the XT4 will be based on Gamma2 , like the Equinox.
The Equinox is based on the D2 platform (Cruze, Volt, Astra, Verano).

The Trax is based on Gamma 2 (Trax, Encore, Sonic/Aveo, Spark).

The XT4 will be on E2, just like the Malibu and Regal/Insignia/Commodore.
No Cadillac will ever be on the Gamma architecture… by that time, this will have folded into the VSS-F or VSS-S architecture set:
