800HP Cadillac Escalade Built By Hennessey Sticks It To A Camaro ZL1 1LE: Video

A 6,000-pound SUV beating a 650-horsepower pony sports car in a straight line, from a standstill. That’s not something you see every day – or ever, really.

To be fair, the SUV in question is a Cadillac Escalade that’s been equipped with the HPE800 package by Hennessey Performance. That means it has a 416-cubic-inch stroker motor fitted with a 2.9-liter supercharger. The combination allows the Escalade to sprint from 0 to 60 in just 3.7 seconds and zip through the quarter-mile in an impressive 11.7 seconds.

We’re going to assume that the Escalade in this video is quipped with the optional four-wheel-drive system, as there seems to be virtually no wheelspin when the SUV launches down the strip at Hennessey’s proving grounds.

Oh yeah, and that car in the left lane that gets walked: that’s a 2018 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 1LE, if you hadn’t noticed. That’s the most capable factory Camaro ever made getting shown up by a big, burly SUV. If the Camaro ever wants a rematch, it might be prudent to have Hennessey’s 1,000-horsepower “Exorcist” package installed.

  1. Seriously one mean Caddy! But the Camaro will take the lead into the corners, no way something as tall as the Escalade can take ’em them too fast. But I like it

  2. I’d like to see an Escalade V from NY to compete with the other sports model SUVs like Land Rover’s Special Victims Unit cars.

  3. When the McDonnell Douglas F-4 Phantom fighter jet was introduced, the response from a lot of pilots was ‘if you put a big enough engine even a brick will fly’ which proves a Hennessey HPE800 Escalade accelerating faster than a Camaro ZL1 1LE; then again.. it would have been nice if Cadillac President Johan de Nysschen had given the greenlight to build a Cadillac Escalade Vsport with the 650hp LT4 supercharged 6.2L V8.

  4. If GM would get their heads out of their asses and put AWD in the top of the line Camaros and Corvettes it would only HELP performance, but NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO… They still cater to the Baby-Boomer/Red-Neck clan that worships RWD.
Euros have been using AWD for decades… Why is it GM is ALWAYS late to the game when it comes to simple tech like that?

  5. Drivers switch cars and do it again. Or better yet, let someone who’s not profiting from the Escalade success run the test. The camaro isnt pulling full speed/power. no way.

  6. Looks to me like traction control was on in Camaro. Still, badass Escalade.
