2019 Silverado High Country: Photo Gallery

Having followed the coverage and reception of the all-new 2019 Silverado 1500 very closely, we have noticed that the majority of information has been focused on the new Silverado Trailboss LT. So we thought it pertinent to shine a spotlight on the 2019 Silverado High Country by sharing our photo gallery of that model from the floor of the 2018 North American International Auto Show in Detroit.

The High Country trim level originally debuted for the 2014 model year, K2 platform Silverado. Slotting above the LTZ trim level, the High Country is the range-topping Silverado model that – when it debuted – served as the ultimate expression of a luxurious Chevrolet pickup truck. The trim level was a direct answer to the F-Series King Ranch models from Ford. The High Country is back for the all-new 2019 Silverado on the T1 platform – but it’s currently unclear whether the 2019 Silverado High Country will continue serving as the range-topping model, or whether Chevrolet will introduce another trim above it that would take on the likes of the F-Series Platinum and Limited, or if GM will continue reserving that space for the GMC Sierra Denali.

We expect to know complete details on the 2019 Silverado, including the 2019 Silverado High Country, along with its features and whether or not there will be a model above it, after GMC announces its all-new 2019 Sierra on March 1. Until then, stay tuned to GM Authority for around-the-clock Silverado news coverage.

  1. The interior (covered elsewhere on this site) is just nowhere near where it should be. There is little beyond the color scheme and seat details that says “luxury”. The woodgrain looks painfully fake and the rest of the decorative trim, of which there is very little, is painted plastic. But GM will likely price the High Country trim as if it were brimming with luxury. Luxury trim trucks from Ford and Ram have this thing trailing a distant third.

  2. I’m disappointed with GM. This thing can’t fight King Ranch.

    1. Why do you say that? I just pulled up side by side images of the front interior and I don’t notice any significant differences. Reading over the King Ranch’s sheet doesn’t expose any features that the High Country will not have/has.

      1. It’s in the detailing. GM skimps wherever possible. Look at the power seat control panel and switches, door handle bezels, speaker grills or power window switch plates on the F-150 King Ranch, Platinum or Limited (same for luxury trim Rams) and compare to Silverado. None of the chrome or other contrasting trim and detailing Ford and Ram offers in those areas is available on even the High Country trim. It all adds up to looking cheap.

    2. Let’s be honest. The King Ranch is pretty meh on the interior too. There is not one part of the King Ranch interior that out does this. Ram offers a nicer interior than the Silverado and F150, but F150 certainly does not offer a better interior than this. I’d say this looks higher quality, but they’re competitive. GM usually uses better materials, F150 has a little more bling.

Current GM interiors are higher quality than F150’s, but they don’t have the options. I assume this gen will have the options.

  3. I know it’s too late, but as I understand it there are bronze highlights in the grille. I’m in no way complaining about the pics that I see, but it would be nice to some pics with those details. (I will say that I’m not digging the embossed “High Country” on the grille.)

As for the rest of it, it’s really hard to tell from pictures alone how it’s going to stack up agains the competition. However the two tone dash, and the color I see on seats, really looks like vomit in my opinion. It looks like they phoned it in on the wheels too (or just want to appeal to old me).

What I do like in these pics is that the chrome trim wraps around the side windows.

  4. For me it is very disappointing truck: too complicated front part with a lot of useless chrome – simple cheaper version look better then this mess. Interior design is absolutely old fashion with no sense of precise and detail like in new RAM (colors, materials, big lcd panel, storage, seats). Cheap plastic, too much buttons, start/stop button too low, stupid storage in back seats etc. It looks like amateur homework not like premium product. Sorry GM but your product is absolutely out.

  5. Very disappointed with Chevy. This interior cant hold a candle to Ram and Fords top of the line interiors. I am a die hard Chevy guy for the last 45 years. Other than a few cool new options and features I feel the new Silverados are a let down. The interiors are sadly way underdone. That color combination inside this High Country makes me want to throw up. What ever happened to interiors being all one color or mostly one color. Very disappointed!

    1. Me too. The interior looks cheap when compared to Ford and RAM. I’ve been a Chevrolet man for years, and I’ve never felt so disappointed with a LUXURY TRIM truck. Seriously, I don’t even want to see a LT or LTZ.

      1. That’s assuming that High Country will remain the range-topping trim level… which it might, or might not… depending on how GM artificially holds back Chevrolet because of GMC and the Sierra.

  6. I agree with much of the above. Frankly, aside from the goofy looking air curtain scoops, I think exterior wise this is the best looking Chevrolet truck to come out in 20 years since the gmt-400’s ended. Though I did like the 99-02’s. I’ll even take it a step further and say it’s in my top 5 favorite Chevy trucks of all time. It’s right there with the 67-72’s good now that they have nice wheel well openings again. Though I am extremely disappointed they chose to cheap out and wax dip their frames instead of properly e-coat or paint them like Ford, Dodge and I believe even Chevy’s own current Colorado has. Still, it’s a winner from the outside.

The interior is just not that good though. It’s a let down like looking at the new Gen 6 Camaro and just seeing a slightly modified Gen 5. There’s no wow factor to the design at all… And the High Country trim isn’t impressive. Is it even high quality rawhide like the King Ranch has? What about real wood grain trim? I don’t know, either way I’m not a cowboy so these trims aren’t my thing. Nor do I like the two tones they have going on. I’d rather have black premium leather and brushed aluminum trim myself. Where’s Chevrolet’s Platinum/Limited fighter? That’s the one I’d be holding out for. These trucks are too expensive for cheap interiors. Chevy really needs to get their act together. I’m really hoping there’s something to the range topping Cheyenne rumor because it’s needed when this thing launches.

  7. I agree with most comments here…the exterior is nice enough…but the interior is a big letdown! Nowhere near to the top tier offerings from Ford and Ram.

  9. THESE TRUCKS ARE TOO EXPENSIVE FOR CHEAP INTERIORS.

I purchased a 2018 King Ranch Super Duty this week. For the first time in my life Ford, over GM, earned my business. Time will tell.

I intended to buy the new Sierra Denali but I decided to wait no longer based on the new Silverado interior. The new Silverado is the best looking Exterior I’ve seen in my lifetime but the interior is SO weak that I bought a Ford.

GM, YOUR INTERIOR IS SO BORING I JUST SPENT $68,000 ON A FORD.

My King Ranch has Mahagony Brown perforated leather (more chocolate than orange), contrast stitch and piping, real wood accents and a black headliner that matches the carpet.

Also notable: full glass roof, power running boards, “floating” rear window, lights in the bed and LED light bars up front.

These are all details that cost Ford some money but equate to a more refined and complete package.
