2019 C7 Corvette Range Features Mobil 1 0W-40 Motor Oil From The Factory

Not much changes for the 2019 Corvette model year, save for the arrival of the C7 Corvette ZR1, but one small difference will likely save many owners a headache or two.

All 2019 C7 Corvettes will be factory-filled with Mobil 1 0W-40 synthetic motor oil, which may not seem like a big deal, but it is. The oil blend is rated for street and track use, which will keep owners from changing oil every time they plan on taking their Corvette to a track event.

Previous C7 Corvettes were filled with 5W-30, but Mobil 1’s 15W-50 was recommended for track events.

However, 2019 C7 Corvette ZR1 owners will still want to keep 15W-50 on hand. The 0W-40 label still recommends the track-use oil for the 6.2-liter supercharged LT5 V8 engine for maximum track performance.

2019 Corvette production began on January 29, 2018, which made the 2018 model year one of the shortest in Corvette history.

  1. This is not a problem just change the oil before and after a track day

  2. A win/win for GM. They factory fill with Mobil1, which had to pay GM a licensing fee for the Dexos approval, plus 25 cents per quart for the every quart Mobil1 produces with the Dexos logo on the bottle. And GM doesn’t have any cost to produce their own engine oil.

  3. Can’t say enough about the service life and contribution to the life of engines, transmissions, differentials, Mobil-1 Synthetics has provided for my vehicles over the past 38 years. From motorcycles, daily driver, tractors, trucks, race cars, to my old Champ 7BCM. Engines from Cad/Lasalle flathead V8’s, Ariel ‘Red Hunter’ 500cc single, to 4-cammers all use Mobil-1 Synthetics.

  4. Does this Mobil1 0-40 oil meet the Dexos1 Gen2 requirements?

  5. My 2019 with Mobil one from the factory made my new Corvette run slower rev slower run 20 degrees hotter and felt like I was pulling a extra 1000 pounds. Switched to royal purple 5 W-30 the car was much better. Just like the last 5 corvette I have owned.

  6. The push to use Mobil 1 oils in my 2019 Corvette (et.al.) is really just a marketing deal between GM and Exxon-Mobil. I won’t call it a scam, because Mobil 1 is a very good oil, but not necessarily the best. Someone, either GM or Mobil or both, are benefiting financially from this arrangement. I’m going with the test results from Shell’s Westhollow Technology. As a retiree from Shell/Shell Global Solutions, I was privileged to witness some engine tear-downs after dyno runs, and listen to the engineers and mechanics. So I’m going with Pennzoil Ultra-Platinum 5w-40 or optionally, 0w-40.
