We said it before and we’ll probably say it again: these Hoonigan Daily Transmission videos have really grown on us. Recently, the Hoonigan Donut Garage was visited by pro Formula D drifter Tanner Foust and his insane RWD, LS7-swapped Volkswagen Passat. Drifting is wild.
As you’d imagine, Foust’s sponsored build has just about everything you could hope to have on a drift car, including the aforementioned LS7 powerplant. But what really sets this car apart from the rest – you know, aside from the swap from front- to rear-wheel drive – is the sound. The noises this thing makes are enchanting.
Thanks to an 8-to-1 collector in the exhaust plumbing, we hear each individual cylinder fire as the fast-revving V8 roars. It really looks and sounds like a bonkers video game car brought to life. We won’t deny being a bit envious of Hert from Hoonigan as he gets a chance to feel what this Passat is all about, but thankfully, we at least have this video to live through vicariously.
With that, click play above to indulge in some complete aural satisfaction for yourself.
