Lawson Aschenbach To Defend PWC GTS Title In The Camaro GT4.R

Driver Lawson Aschenbach will remain with Blackdog Speed Shop in the Chevrolet Camaro GT4.R to defend his Pirelli World Challenge GTS title in 2018, Sportscar365 reports. Aschenbach handily won the drivers’ title in the GTS division last season with twelve podium finishes including two victories – one at Mid-Ohio, and the other at Sonoma Raceway.

In fact, Aschenbach spent far more time on the podium than off it, failing to finish in the top three in GTS just six times out of eighteen races.

“The Pratt & Miller guys, Chevrolet Performance crew, as well as the Blackdog team did a great job in developing the race car for the 2017 season,” Aschenbach says.

He went on to say: “Finishing every race with 12 podiums is a tremendous record. We won the title by over 60 points and that’s a credit to everyone involved.”

Tony Gaples, Blackdog Speed Shop team owner, is expected to drive in the 2018 Pirelli World Challenge season as well, competing with his Chevrolet Camaro GT4 in the GTSA (GTS Amateur) division. Gaples turned in a solid performance in the 2017 series, finishing eighth overall in the GTS class.
