If you’re itching for a handling upgrade for your F-body Chevrolet Camaro or Pontiac Firebird, we’ve got good news: Heidts Hot Rod & Muscle Car Parts recently launched a new independent rear suspension (IRS) setup for the fourth-gen F-body platform, which encompasses Camaros and Firebirds from 1993 to 2002.
The new setup, dubbed the “PRO-G IRS” (part number IRC-401), isn’t quite what we’d call cheap, with kit prices starting at $5,395.00. The standard kit includes the cradle, tubular control arms, steering arm, billet adjustable coilover shocks and springs, and CV Shafts. Brake packages, such as a Wilwood big brake kit, can also be had for an additional cost.
The PRO-G IRS was designed for both track and street use, and is available in different configurations designed to handle 500 horsepower, or 800 horsepower. The kit can also be had with either the stock 65-inch track width, or a narrower 62-inch track width. Regardless of which configuration you go with, installation is fairly straight forward, as it is a bolt-on solution.

This a great idea
Yes, best suspension for the F Cars is more safe and comfortable
Also avaiable for the 3rd gen F`s? maybe this be interest to a friend
It’s available for 3rd gen fbody’s has been for about a year or so heck you could have even put the 3rd gen version on the 4th gen with wheel spacers or custom offset rims but would have lost tcs. check out their website
My only problem with the gen 4 camaro is no true dual exhaust
We have done a number of IRS conversions of Gen-3-4 Camaro’s. Parts and installation with big brakes runs on average about $7,500. Our fabbed plate boxing sub-frame interface is quit similar, though it is not a “bolt-on” connection , nor is Heidts strictly a bolt-on installation. There is quite a bit of prep work to be done before modifications to the existing original suspension pick-up points to accept the new fabbed saddles and cradle.
We recommend the IRS with our LS376 conversions.
