General Motors China Sales Increase 13.1 Percent To 491,702 Vehicles In December 2017

General Motors and its joint ventures reported 491,702 new vehicle deliveries for December 2017 in China, a 13.1 percent increase from December 2016. The results represent a new December sales record for GM in China.

The Chevrolet, Buick, Cadillac and Baojun brands posted sales gains, while Wuling sales decreased.

Shanghai GM Sales – December 2017

December 2017 sales results at Shanghai GM — GM’s primary joint venture in China responsible for Chevrolet, Buick, and Cadillac vehicle sales — were as follows.

Chevrolet China Sales – December 2017

Chevrolet sales increased 6.6 percent to 78,661 units.

Buick China Sales – December 2017

Buick sales increased 20.3 percent to 126,804 units.

In March 2017, Buick announced the Buick Velite 5 — its first extended-range electric vehicle (EREV). Essentially a Buick-badged second-generation Chevrolet Volt, the vehicle has fuel consumption as low as 0.9 liter/100 kilometers. In the coming two years, the brand will launch plug-in hybrid and pure battery electric vehicles to expand its green car lineup. In addition, the brand has also announced the all-new 2018 Buick Regal. With 10 variants on offer, the new Regal will build on the success of the popular premium sedan nameplate.

Cadillac China Sales – December 2017

GM’s Cadillac luxury brand continued to build its presence in the Chinese market, increasing sales 28.5 percent to 17,217 units. The results represent the 22nd consecutive month of double-digit Cadillac sales growth in China. The results represent a new December record for the brand.

Cadillac’s sales performance in China led the brand’s U.S. sales volume by 1,913 units during the month.

SAIC-GM-Wuling Sales – December 2017

December 2017 sales results at GM’s other Chinese joint venture — SAIC-GM-Wuling — were as follows:

Baojun China Sales – December 2017

Baojun sales increased 36.7 percent to 137,956 units, setting a new all-time sales record.

Wuling China Sales – December 2017

Wuling sales decreased 7.2 percent to 131,064 units:

  1. looks like GM is broadening its numbers by including products that they “assist” in the engineering but are not actual subsidiaries. explanation ?
