General Motors wants to capture the still-young electric-car market in South Korea and plans to allocate 5,000 Chevrolet Bolt EVs to do so, South Korean outlet Yonhap reported on Wednesday.
Last year, GM brought just 600 Bolt EVs to the market and they sold out at a rapid pace. In a matter of hours, actually.
This year’s allocation may still be short to satisfy the market’s demand, but it’s reportedly more than was expected. The Bolt EV will sell for around $25,000 USD in South Korea, thanks to government subsidies for electric cars.
This past Monday, GM opened pre-orders for the Bolt EV in South Korea and deliveries are expected to commence in April.
The same day, domestic automaker Hyundai also opened pre-orders for its electric car, the Kona and Ioniq EV.
