We’re hardly here to glorify speeding, but as they say, everything is bigger in Texas. That includes speeds, apparently.
Every year, The Houston Chronicle publishes a list of the fastest speeding tickets issued during the year. In 2017, the top speed was found in a citation for doing 181 mph in a 75 mph zone. But, that’s not what grabbed our attention; the fact a Chevrolet SS sedan made the list is, quite frankly, a tad humorous.
The Chevrolet sedan that flew so low under the radar made a splash on the speeding list. The SS sedan’s driver managed to find flashing lights behind him or her after doing 156 mph in a 70 mph zone. That speed was enough to claim the fourth fastest ticket of the year.
A Pontiac G8 GT also made the list at number 11 with a 145 mph in a 75 mph zone citation. Finally, a 2017 C7 Corvette clocked a 146 mph speed in a 70 mph zone.
We know they say cars are meant to be driven, but maybe ease off the accelerator pedal a bit SS, G8 GT, and C7 Corvette drivers.

“Texas is the most lenient among all 50 states and the District of Columbia when it comes to passing laws against speeding and reckless driving, and punishing violators.”
“To prove reckless driving, you almost have to have something happen, like a motorcycle riding a wheelie and they crash”
The worst FINE is going 30 over in Oregon, automatic reckless driving and fine of $6.250…
If you get hit with a reckless, based on LEO’s judgement, a minimum of 14 days in jail…

I bet not one of these drivers killed anybody ever, and meanwhile, totally under-the-speed-limit drivers are killing each other every day as they drive the wrong way on the freeway, make their calls, look for Pokémon, and use tires with no tread.
No wonder nobody trusts the government, when they say car passengers only ever die one, single, way.
Well said
Not to encourage or condone this high rate of speed on public roads, but what a shame two of these vehicles are no longer in production and available to us!
I have serious trouble ever staying below 80 on a clear & open road, but 150? Whoo!!
