The GM Authority Take
The Colorado’s December U.S. sales performance enabled it to continue in second place in its segment, behind the Toyota Tacoma yet ahead of the Nissan Frontier as well as the Colorado’s platform mate, the GMC Canyon (see GMC Canyon sales).
However, the 2 percent sales growth rate was lower than that of the Tacoma’s 6.8 percent, meaning that sales of the Toyota grew faster than those of the Colorado. Even so, the Colorado grew faster than the Frontier’s 3.1 percent drop.

About Chevrolet Colorado
The Chevrolet Colorado is a mid-size pickup truck. It is currently Chevrolet’s smallest pickup truck in the U.S. and Canada, slotting under the full-size Chevrolet Silverado. In Mexico, the Colorado slots above the compact Chevrolet Montana but below the Silverado/Cheyenne (the name for some of Silverado’s trim levels in Mexico).
The current model was introduced in 2015 and represents the second generation of the Colorado nameplate. The model rides on the GMT-31XX platform shared with the GMC Canyon, as well as the international-market Chevrolet Colorado/S10 and Chevrolet Trailblazer.

The 2018 Chevy Colorado represents the fourth model year of the second-generation Colorado. The vehicle remains highly competitive in its segment, offering two gasoline engines and a diesel motor, which is a segment exclusive. The off-road-specific Colorado ZR2 was launched for the 2017 model year. However, the Colorado family continues to lack various features asked by many present and potential customers, such as a moonroof, a sliding rear window, as well as a range-topping LTZ or High Country trim level.
A midcycle refresh for the 2019 model year is expected to bring revised front and rear styling, as well as possible updates to the interior, and powertrain. It’s possible that the 2019 Colorado will address the aforementioned lack of features/equipment.
The Chevrolet Colorado is built at the GM Wentzville factory in Missouri operated by GM USA.

Going to have to wait and see how this all pans out with the reintroduction of the Ranger….
Most Ford buyers will be from past Ranger folks, Ford CUV models and F150 models.
Not a lot of cross over by brands here. Some but most are from the main line brands.
You always have that small pool of people who bounce around by brand but the are small in numbers.
There is a decent size group of past Ranger owners waiting like we had Colorado and S10 owners who were waiting to return when the second gen arrived.
I can tell you from personal experience if you own a 2015 to 2016 that will not go in traffic around 25 to 35 mph. (nothing then miss a gear down rev high and go nowhere) And GM will do nothing. We again will see how many of those owners stay with GM . Maybe the new ones are better but you have to want to go through the trouble to find out. Like I have been told by my Ford and Toyota friends and Family they would care. I do love the comfort and looks of my Canyon it drives great on the open road. However I will not buy another. Do to the GM doing nothing about the shift program.
Is this the 6 or 8 speed?
6 speed
6 Speed. Again this is not a gearing issue. There is a gear there you can hit it on acceleration, But while driving it upshifts good but when you want to go with traffic you accelerate lug lug then downshift 2 gears rev rev go nowhere than let off and it will all catch up. I don’t think it is explained to GM correctly or they just don’t want to do anything. It would save on fuel mileage if it would hit that gear. I bet tuners are laughing.
Well I have a 2017 8 speed V6 and no issues. I have driven 2015 and 2016 models and that take off fine. Just not as smooth shifting.
Have you only gone to one dealer or tried others. When it comes to service departments they are not all the same. Some are good some have no clue and this is for all brands. GMs is compounded by the fact they have too many dealers.
First thing I would do is drive anther 2016 to see if it is normal or an issue. Then figure out if it is a problem or something you missed on the long test drive you took.
Many have used the Pedal Comander to correct the 2016 short comings if it bothers them.
I can’t express my disarray. My 2015 accelerates great drives great plenty of power when you come from zero away you go. OK HERE WE GO AGAIN. When you are driving around 25 to 35 going along fine, quick upshifting to save gas great. BUT in this scenario when traffic speeds up and you accelerate slow OR fast you get nothing the 3.6 even with premium fuel (which makes it better as far as low end power ) is lugging and pinging (pre ignition) NOW THIS PART IS IMPORTANT. You push on the foot slowly OR quickly it will not go down 1 gear and pickup torque at 2000 to 2200 rpm, if you don’t let off it will let you push far enough that it tells itself your foot is far enough to downshift the next gear up it actually then goes 2 down so you are at the top rpm of the gear and not the low rpm of the gear. NOW GET THIS if in this exact scenario EXACT if you don’t accelerate when you need to but just for 1 second or less when you want to go let off gas then go all speeds the same it works great GREAT. I have tried to talk to GM, My local dealer called closer dealers and ones far away. Most of the dealers and for the large ones that have sold many, know something is happening. THERE IS A GEAR THERE IT MISS HITS IT but only on continues acceleration. Sorry about the passion GM please listen.
