The 2019 Silverado interior has been completely redesigned from the ground up for more space as well as higher levels of comfort and convenience. And one of the ways in which the cabin of the all-new truck is more convenient is a new storage feature in the second row.
Specifically, the 2019 Silverado 1500 interior includes two 10-liter bins integrated into the seatbacks of the second row. The bins can be opened using a small pull-style strap. Pulling on the strap opens a cover that swings horizontally toward the center of the vehicle, revealing two bins that are perfect for holding small items like gloves, tie-down straps, or perhaps something that one would like to store in the vehicle away from prying eyes.
Having experienced it first-hand at the Detroit Auto Show, we have to say that we’re fans of this innovative storage solution, which results in a better cab.
It’s currently unclear whether the smart storage bins will be a standard or optional feature, or whether they will be available as part of certain trim levels or packages, but we intended to find out shortly. In the meantime, stay tuned to GM Authority for around-the-clock Silverado news coverage.

May as well have put cupholders in them because backseat road beers are exactly what those are used for and we all know it!
With that said. Ideally if it could fit a first aid kit or a jug of washer fluid would be great, but doesn’t look like the jug would fit
I only have three gripes about the All New Silverado.
One: They decided to ONLY offer the column Shifter. It’s 2018 GM Wow
Two: No Panoramic Sunroof Option
Three: Lack of 10 inch Infotainment screen from the Bolt
I can agree with two and three.
I have no issue with one. I actually like the column shifter!
No issue with offering the column shifter. The issue is some of costumers go full Tech Geek looking for new vehicles. Offer an option for the higher trim levels. Don’t saddle this awesome new truck with 1950’s tech is all i’m saying.
Ya I don’t disagree with you. That is really my only let down on this truck which was two and three that you mentioned. I felt like they did such a great job on the exterior and I just wished the interior was just as revolutionary as the exterior. Its just a little disappointing when looking at the Ram interior.
Now with that said, its not a bad interior and I still think it looks pretty good, and I will not be buying a ram because it has a 12 inch display but I wish they went a little further. Id rather have my 6.2 and 10-speed anyway! But as of right now chevy is killing It with their powertrain line-up, and we only know half of the engines and we don’t even know all of those numbers. Can’t wait to hear more, and purchase one in the future!
It is also important to remember that GM has yet to release their most high end pickup, the GMC Denali. It would make sense to save some of the range topping features for the range topping vehicle. Panoramic sunroof, 10-12 inch screen, higher end interior.
Sure, the Sierra should have this stuff but the problem is Ford and Dodge both have all of that and they’re Chevy’s straight up competition. GM continuing to purposefully hold back Chevrolet doesn’t help Chevrolet buyers, dealers or even GM one bit. Let the GMC buyers have what they want, but let Chevrolet buyers have it also. The whole artificial glass ceiling GM puts over all of Chevrolet’s products that aren’t race cars is ridiculous.
A person who wants a loaded Chevrolet truck should be allowed to get whatever they want just like a Ford or Dodge truck buyer could. GM is trying to act like a parent to a child here saying “no, you can’t have that”. They just lose customers and brand loyalty doing this. And with Chevy’s SIlverado being GM’s #1 selling vehicle, it’s just bad business to handicap that vehicle.
Sums up my personal sentiments exactly. I’m not a GMC customer, I am a Chevrolet customer. I want a Silverado that has everything that an F-150 Platinum has, or more. I do not want a GMC.
The entire interior, like most high volume GM products, is weak. Even the High Country (just like Buick’s Avenir and GMC’s Denali trims), just amounts to “patches” of premium touches applied to the surrounding ho-hum materials and finishes. The new Ram interior spanks the Silverado in materials, colors and detailing.
Perhaps. But I’d take a lesser appointed GM truck over the most highly optioned RAM any day!
New idea, but looks like something rambunctious kids would break in a few weeks. Maybe it’s me, but the front seats also look too narrow? Looks like they belong in a Malibu or Cruze, not a full-size truck.
The seats are on par with the K2s. The frame appears to be more space efficient… providing the same seat with a smaller footprint.
As for badly-behaved kids breaking it, we could say the same about any rear seat feature, including cupholders, AC vents, rear seat sun shades, etc. If they’re breaking the seatback storage compartments, they’re going to break everything else in sight… on any vehicle from any brand.
Kids like to play (and in some cases destroy) things that have buttons or open and close. Rear window lock-outs are not just a safety thing. This is also at “kids level” in the vehicle, so it’s more likely to be used and abused than vents or sun shades. Maybe it will be optional anyway?
I fully get the nature of some children. Just don’t think one should be building a product based on their potential behavior.
And not everyone has small children anymore.
I’m having doubts about the seats but will reserve judgement when I actually sit in one. The material covering them looks really cheap too and they look hard. Hope I’m wrong on that one.
