We’re still digesting all of the news from the 2018 North American International Auto Show, but there’s reason to look forward to the 2018 New York Auto Show. Cadillac divulged to GM Authority that the 2019 XT4 crossover will indeed make its formal debut in the Big Apple.
Cadillac did not have any other information to share on the XT4 and did not have any announcements for NAIAS this year, but New York will be a different story. General Motors’ luxury brand has used the New York Auto Show to reveal its latest products in recent years, including the Cadillac CT6. Of course, this follows Cadillac’s move to New York City from Detroit, Michigan.
We don’t have many details on the 2019 Cadillac XT4, but it will likely ride on the E2 platform shared with the 2018 Chevrolet Malibu and 2018 Buick Regal. It should usher in Cadillac’s new Escala-inspired design language and we expect a plug-in hybrid will be one of the compact crossover’s powertrain options.
The XT4 is all important to Cadillac. It will mark the first vehicle launched and developed entirely under President Johan de Nysschen and it will rival the luxury car market’s hottest products: compact crossovers. We have high hopes for the XT4. Stay tuned.
An XT4 V-Sport model that shares the Regal GS twin-clutch, all-wheel-drive system coupled with the 3.0TT would be a real killer.
Hopefully that happens, then they will need to upgrade the XT5 with the TT 3.6. Hopefully that happens.
If this vehicle docent go on sale until fourth quarter this year it going to throw the timing of fo four vehicles every six months between now and 2020.
I think my next vehicle will be the caddy placed below the escalade and above the xt5.
Depending on how it looks… but I really like where they are going.
The closer we get to the N.Y show I hope we start to see a bit more of the CUV with less camo .
This is a big deal for JDN , let’s hope it lives up to all the hype .
Just looking at it, the product doesn’t have much presence so I don’t see how a vehicle analogous to, and shaped like, a Ford Escape is going to live up to all the hype and breathe life into Cadillac. I understand that these things sell and if you’re Mercedes with a lineup of respected high-end cars, adding a cheap little FWD runabout CUV to the line doesn’t crash the brand’s prestige. Cadillac, however, needed to rebuild from the top down and imbue the brand with some prestige again before they try and pull-off another Cimarron-like entry-level product.
With the Acura RDX revealed, I hope the XT4 is up to snuff. Please have a sport model.
NAIAS ’18 = Boring!!!
This is a tough segment to lead off in. It will be interesting to see what was done.
The one area that needs addressed is it needs to have a engine or engine tune offering of it’s own. They can not just dump in the corperate Turbo 4 with some thing extra.
The XT5 is nice but lacks its true full identity with out its own power plant.
This does not have to be a home run but it does need to make an impression that Cadillac is going in the right direction globally not just in America.
The design language process does take a long time. That Escala reveal was over a year ago, and it must have taken designers several years leading up to that point.
Styling and design are art forms. Many auto companies continue to have a hard time defining and refining a certain design language, for both a brand and model.
I’m confident the XT4 design will exceed expectations.
We had the 2008 Cadillac SRX all wheel drive bought in 2007. Watertown New York . Handled the Winters with outstanding results. This was a very good design but Cadillac did not update or follow through with improvements was based on Cadillacs RWD. We gave it to our Brother Inlaw he still has the SUV living in The Watertown NY area and still going strong.
Just saw this morning from Motor Trend. Mercedes-Benz is releasing that a series this year and Cadillac is only now coming out with the XT4 why can they do this and America Company can get their out?
