2019 Cadillac CT6 Spied During Cold-Weather Testing

Yet again we have the refreshed 2019 Cadillac CT6 photographed during testing, this time out in the snowy and cold weather.

As usual, it’s difficult to make out the finer details here thanks to the camouflage, but it’s still easy to see the Escala concept styling cues. The grille bears a similar design to the Escala, and the headlights look more horizontal in nature. However, Cadillac’s signature vertical light design looks intact in the LED running lights up front and in the rear taillights.

It’s unclear if the interior will boast any changes aside from new features, but our bet is that the cabin stays largely the same.

Powertrains should also carry over unchanged, but we’re still waiting on a V8-powered CT6. We think a refreshed CT6 would be the perfect time to introduce an eight-cylinder engine to the CT6. We know Cadillac has a new DOHC V8 engine in the works, but things have been quiet on that front for some time. Maybe that will change in the coming months.

  1. This will probably be the #2 on the schedule of a Cadillac being shown every 6 months. With the XT4 in march/April this will most likely show cover this summer then my guess followed by the new ATS/CTS sedan that’s driving around now

    1. Refreshes don’t count towards the new model every 6 months.

  2. I like how they are using the Pontiac G6 cover wheels on this prototype #longlibepontiac

      1. I thought it looks mighty familiar at first because I couldn’t think of where it came from at first and then my mind clicked and sure enough its from the Pontiac G6. (Unless Opel has been using it before on either their Insignia or something like that)

  3. Why would GM need to do testing in extreme conditions for a refreshed grille texture and new headlamp design. Based on what we saw with XTS, the changes shouldn’t be significant enough to impact cooling or drivability in extreme cold.

I wonder, and perhaps hope, they’re actually testing a new powertrain. CT6 is great in many ways but letdown by the engines. Let’s hope they’re really testing a Cadillac-exclusive 4.2 L OHC 32 Valve son-of-Northstar V8.

    1. All automakers do testing in extreme conditions. Mostly it has to do with engine performance and parts (maybe) to see how long they withstand extreme conditions.

Auto makers have manufactured buildings of their own with machines that can produced artificial extreme conditions.

  4. Hoping for a refreshed interior as well

  5. Based on these spy shots and the CT5 shots, it looks like the vertical LED DRLs will play second fiddle to the horizontal units, becoming more like fog lamps.

    I hope for Cadillac’s sake I’m wrong.

  6. weird. It almost looks like the headlights are still wrapping over the front. I thought they’d change this…
But, it also looks like its horizontal. So, i wouldnt be suprised if they are tricking us into thinking they still do wrap over the top…
Just look at the ats/cts, charger sides lol.
