2019 C7 Corvette ZR1 Customers Can Assemble Their Own 6.2L LT5 V8 Engine

General Motors’ Bowling Green, Kentucky, assembly plant will soon be churning out 2019 model year Corvettes. And that includes the 2019 C7 Corvette ZR1. But, for those looking to get even more personal with the assembly process, the Performance Build Center announced it will add the 6.2-liter LT5 supercharged V8 engine to the program.

The Engine Build Experience, RPO code PBC, will be available for all ZR1 trims and allows customers to assemble their cars monstrous 750-horsepower V8 engine. The day includes supervision from an engine assembly technician to instruct the customer, a personalized engine plaque, professional photography, a piston-shaped trophy to commemorate the experience and a custom ballcap.

The day starts bright and early for the customer at 5:45 a.m. central time before the build officially begins at 6:30 a.m. The day will conclude with a ceremony at 3:00 p.m. Breakfast and lunch are also provided by the nice folks at the Bowling Green plant.

Following the engine build, the mill moves to the vehicle assembly area for installation upon the ZR1’s scheduled completion date.

The experience isn’t exactly inexpensive—it’s a $5,000 option—but the customer will certainly have bragging rights every time they pop the hood.
