The world arguably looks at America as a horsepower leader full of giant trucks, SUVs and muscle cars. However, Australia certainly gives Americans a run for the money. The gearheads down under are utterly insane. Want proof? Here’s a twin-turbocharged LS-powered Mazda Miata making 450 horsepower courtesy of Street Machine Magazine.
That 450 hp figure is on a very conservative tune with low boost; the car made over 600 hp with the boost cranked up. But, it’s not just the engine swap that’s so crazy, it’s the associated work with it. The Miata now features a solid rear axle, and the 5.7-liter LS1 V8 engine sends power to a nine-inch Ford rear end with 3.25 gears. For maximum power output, the MX-5.7 drinks E85.
At the end of the day, the only Mazda left in this Miata is the bodywork.
And that’s why we love it. The Australian auto industry may be a shadow of its former self, but the people still manage to build some incredible things.

This should be around 700 plus up!
I don’t agree with GM products being installed in a non GM vehicle
