Isuzu-Built Chevrolet Low Cab Forward Trucks Recalled Over Problematic Fire Extinguishers

General Motors is recalling its Chevrolet-branded Low Cab Forward medium duty trucks over an issue with the trucks’ fire extinguishers.

The defect: affected models are equipped with fire extinguishers that may become clogged, preventing the extinguisher from discharging as expected or excessive force may be needed to activate the extinguisher. Additionally, in certain models, the nozzle may detach from the valve assembly with enough force that it could cause injury and also render the product inoperable.

The hazards: in the event of a fire, if the fire extinguisher does not function properly, it can increase the risk of injury.

Affected components: equipment.

Affected vehicles: the following models when equipped with certain Walter Kidde Plastic-Handle Fire Extinguishers, models FC10 and FC110:

  • 2016-2017 Chevrolet Low Cab Forward 3500 HD, 3500 and 4500
  • 2017-2018 Chevrolet Low Cab Forward 4500 HD, 4500 XD, 5500 HD and 5500 XD
