GM President Dan Amman Talks Self-Driving Cars, 2018 Sales Forecast And More: Video

General Motors is certainly not the automaker it was five or ten years ago. The company has shed underperforming businesses, re-evaluated products and refocused on areas that make the most sense for opportunity moving forward.

To touch on all of those topics and more, Dan Ammann, GM President, spoke with Automotive News in a new video. Ammann first reiterated our opener. GM made tough decisions in the past few years to help prime it for a more prosperous future. That future includes self-driving cars. The automaker sees great opportunity in the space and the automaker believes the future is mobility coincides with electric cars. Thus, major investments in electrification and autonomous cars will continue.

As for 2018, GM sees another solid year. Ammann points to a steady economy and consumer sentiment that should make for a steady sales forecast. Barring any unforeseen issues, GM believes 2018 will be steady, though many experts think the market has begun to plateau after years of record sales.
