Chevrolet announced, as it normally does, that the first production 2019 C7 Corvette ZR1 will be auctioned off for charity at Barrett-Jackson. And Rick Hendrick is already making space for the vehicle in his garage.
The first production car will benefit the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation, which helps wounded veterans through the Building for America’s Bravest program. The program is named after a New York City firefighter and first responder who died during the attacks of September 11, 2001.
Chevrolet didn’t mention how the first production car would be specified, but we imagine it will show up with the ZTK performance package, which adds the massive rear wing to provide an estimated 1,000 pounds of downforce. No matter what options adorn it, the car will cross the block with a 6.2-liter supercharged LT5 V8 engine with 755 horsepower.
The car will make its way across the auction block at Barrett-Jackson’s Scottsdale event on January 20, 2018.

Going once, Going twice and going one final time. Sold!
Congratulations Mr. Hendrick enjoy the car.
I wish his museum was open to the public. I would love to see all the cars in his collection.
Just opening a Museum can be very expensive and difficult for liability it makes it hard for some of these collections to go public.
I don’t know if it’s true, but I heard you can get an invitation to the museum if you buy a car from him. I don’t know if it has to be a certain type or level of car. I watched AmeriCarna and really wished I could get into that museum too. I was up there last summer…and you can actually tour the smaller building with the historical Nascar cars. I want to see the Vettes though.
Yes if you know someone you can be invited or if you are with a group that is invited.
It his much like the GM collection where it is not totally closed off but you also just can’t just walk in anytime.
Rick has movie nights where he has a big screen and they show car movies and the people sit in some of the Corvettes parked in front of the screen like a drive in. He does this often for employees of his teams and dealers.
I have met Rick and he is much like Mr Penske a true quality person.
I hate that they sell these cars and give the extra to charity!
Why do people think giving money to charity is a good thing?
VIN’s 001 should stay with GM – they should auction 002
755 HP! Wow! What a beast, that thing is gonna give some prancing horses a run for their money
