The GM Authority Take
After its first drop in year-over-year U.S. sales volume in October, the Envision returned to growth in November – posting a healthy gain that is far greater than the rest of the segment contenders.
The performance retains it in third, or second-to-last, place in terms of cumulative November sales volume behind the Lexus NX and Acura RDX but ahead of the Lincoln MKC (see Lincoln MKC sales) and Infiniti QX50.
Besides posting the highest November sales growth, the Envision also posted the highest sales growth in the first 11 months of 2017, with sales growing 241 percent.
We expect Envision sales to continue growing in the coming months as long as the market continues to favor crossovers and Buick is capable of keeping up with demand for the vehicle. Whether the Envision can catch up to Lexus and Acura sales volumes remains to be seen. What’s more, the Envision will soon see internal competition from GM’s Cadillac brand and its upcoming 2019 Cadillac XT4 compact crossover, which will aim to take on the Lexus NX head on.

About Buick Envision
The Buick Envision is a compact crossover that slots above the subcompact Buick Encore and below the full-size Buick Enclave. The current, first-generation Envision was introduced for the 2016 model year. The vehicle is based on a variant of the GM D2 platform shared with the second-generation GMC Terrain, Chevrolet Cruze, and Chevrolet Volt.
The Envision launched with a relatively steep starting price of $42,995 in 2016, since it was available only in the two highest trim levels and with the most potent turbo 2.0L LTG engine. The 2017 model introduced several lower-end trim levels, enabling the starting price to drop to $34,990. The 2018 model goes unchanged from the 2017 model. However, the 2019 Envision is getting a midcycle refresh that includes a significant amount of changes, including new headlights and front grille, the new GM 9-speed automatic transmission on Premium models, new exterior colors and interior color combinations, reconfiguring the exhaust pipe on non-Premium models to be turned under the vehicle, new taillights, new wheel choices, the replacement of Ice Blue ambient lighting with White, and the addition of three new technologies – an ionizing air cleaner, Tire Fill Alert, and wireless cell phone charging.

2019 Buick Envision
The Buick Envision is built exclusively at the GM Dong Yue factory operated by GM China.

I’m surprised about the rankings. Envision bests RX. Then again, I have no taste considering I love QX50.
You mean NX? In that case, how does it best it? I’ve tried to find out and can’t say I’m impressed with either one, but the Lexus at least stands out on the road due to the love it or hate it design, while the Envision is yet another boring crossover. That said, I too love the QX50… to bad it’s going to become a Nissan Altima now.
Q50 is one of the finest options on the road
MAGA, Don’t buy vehicles from China, although, it is ironic that the only two vehicles that keep Buick out the the toilet in it’s reliability ratings along with Cadillac and GMC are Korean and Chinese made. Maybe GM should just hang it up and import a few vehicles from China and call it a day. Heck, they could even sell them through Walmart! More profits for stockholders and bonuses for upper management.
Brian, Do you wear the red hat, too?
I support union workers but import from China can’t be stopped in a nation the rewards the rich and punishes the poor with tax law.
Haven’t you realized Trump is leading the wage race to the bottom–may this be his imported workers or his government’s allowing of Asian slave-like labor.
