General Motors has filed a trademark application to register the term Multibed with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), GM Authority has discovered.
Filed on December 22nd, 2017, the filing is assigned serial number 87732407 and states that the term will be used in conjunction with goods and services category of “Truck Bed”.
The GM Authority Take
This rather intriguing filing appears to foreshadow a name for a new pickup truck bed for GM trucks. And it is quite fitting that GM’s all-new T1 platform trucks – the 2019 Chevy Silverado and 2019 GMC Sierra – are right around the corner.
We expect to learn more about the all-new Silverado 1500 at Chevrolet’s upcoming invite-only media event scheduled for January 13th, 2018 ahead of the 2018 North American International Auto Show, and perhaps we’ll hear about the Multibed at the same time.
Meanwhile, be sure to follow our Chevy Silverado news coverage as well as more Chevy news and GM news.
Would it have speakers in the bed o maybe just the slide opening and the normal opening
Great name for the bed
how about a tail gate that opens up and down and also sideways like the ridgeline
Remember when they said the Ridgeline was the future ans going to take over the truck industry sales from the GM and Ford?
Lololololololololololololol
Would love to see something comparable to the Ram-box.
HURRY UP already with the 2019 GMC Sierra!!
I would love to see a Ram-Box type system, with a Ridgeline type tailgate as options, but the icing on the cake would have to be available in-bed speakers on the WT trim.
It’s reported that GM and Ram will begin production of their all new trucks while still manufacturing the old trucks. So how will this work. “Hey we’ve got this new truck, or you can get this new outdated truck for $500 less”; or maybe they’ll lose margin on the old truck and sell it cheap. Either way, I don’t see that working out as a smart strategy. Ford built the existing truck at the MO plant while retooling Dearborn. Then they started cranking out at Dearborn, then shut down MO, and retooled. The had trouble keeping up with demand for probably seven months but it still makes more sense than coming out with something improved and still trying to sell an inferior product.
BRING BACK THE AVALANCHE ALREADY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
