Watch The 2019 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 Unveiling In Dubai: Video

Plane fare to the United Arab Emirates is expensive. You know what isn’t? Streaming video on YouTube.

In case you couldn’t attend the unveiling of the all-new, 755-horsepower 2019 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 in Dubai last weekend, you can watch the highlights from the event in the video above, which was published to YouTube by DPCcars. The new ZR1 is the most powerful production Corvette ever built, leveraging a supercharged, 6.2-liter OHV V8 dubbed “LT5”. It’s also equipped to produce far more downforce than the C7 Z06, which Chevrolet hopes can help achieve a sub-7-minute lap of the Nürburgring Nordschleife.

The video features appearances from GM Africa & Middle East President and Managing Director Mario A. Spangenberg; GM North America President and Global Chevrolet Brand Chief Alan Batey; Corvette Chief Engineer Tadge Juechter; and GM Director of Exterior Design for Performance Cars Tom Peters.

It’s expected that the 2019 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 will serve as a super-high-performance send-off to the C7 generation of the Chevrolet Corvette, which is believed to be the final front-engined iteration of the iconic sportscar, with the C8 premiering a mid-engine layout in 2019.

  2. George Thorogood singing “Bad To The Bone” rings in the back of my head upon seeing the revieling of the 2019 Chevrolet C7 Corvette ZR1 because this won’t be just the most powerful production Corvette ever, it will be the fastest production Corvette and most likely, it will be capable of achieving the best lap time on Germany’s Nurburgring of any production Corvette.

  4. America’s sports car debuts in Dubai? Really GM/Chevrolet? Designed and engineered assembled in the USA and you chose Dubai to break it out. Shame on you!

    1. Get ready for a lot more of this. With your government’s isolationist policies, confrontational approach and anti-trade agenda, the US will become increasingly irrelevant. Many economies around the world are growing at a furious pace while the US is stagnant. How many people at that introduction could have bought ZR-1s by the dozens and already own a stable full of exotic cars?

GM is just following the money as it is in China.

So do you want the Corvette to be considered a global sports cars with new models that can debut anywhere in the world to great applause, or would you rather it be an exclusively local concern that doesn’t have any presence or clout outside of the US….like the Charger Hellcat?

Choose carefully, as one way makes Corvette a representative of an entire nation on the world’s stage, and the other becomes a go-to car for a YouTube tire ad.
