We don’t forget Oldsmobile so easily around these parts. Sure, it didn’t capture consumers like it once did at the end of the brand’s life, but in its heyday, Oldsmobile was a pioneering division and made some incredible cars. The Oldsmobile Cutlass is one of them and remains a staple muscle car from the 1960s and 1970s.
The House of Muscle recently highlighted one 1972 Cutlass and its owner from Queens in New York City, and trust us, it’s one bad machine. The car runs a 540 cubic-inch big-block V8 engine and its sounds echo and boom down local streets. It’s not what one would imagine from an inner city area as the focus shifts from cars and taxis to self-driving transportation.
Nope, the owner keeps this car alive and roams around the city to showcase the incredible build. Take a closer look at the car in the video up above.

Saw Chevy big block; lost interest.
I feel your pain. Had a 1970 442 with a 455 @ 365hp and 500+ torque to launch a 2 ton beast. Wish it had the w30 package but I did find “F” casting heads for extra hp. Problem is, you can build a lot of HP but it comes at stupid costs where a BB chevy is relatively cheap. Buick and Pontiac dealt with the same issue but back then we were part of an exclusive club and we all hated chevy as much as ford or chrysler. I laughed when a kid in school had to show me his SBC in a Nove and then I showed him what a BB old’s 455 looked like. Always loved Hurst for building the 68′ and 69’s with 455’s against the BS GM ban against anything more than a 400 while copo’s and yenko’s were acceptable due to BS internal politics at GM and let’s not forget the l88’s on the ‘Vette’s. Never stopped Chrysler and the 426 Hemi’s or 440’s either, did it?? Alway’s resented GM’s sabotage of the rest of GM divisions, Buick, Old’s, and Pontiac in favor of Chevy.
What the Hell! Where are the W-30 Blocks???!!!
Had it in my 69′ 442 Convertable and my
75′ Hurst/Olds. Can’t see why the Chevy transplants. Alot you can do these days running OLDSMOBILE POWER.
and GM closed the OLDSMOBILE division what the hell were they thinking ,what a mistake I would have owned 2 today –his & hers we had 13 of them
It’s a shame Oldsmobile lost its way and got eliminated by GM .
Where I’m from this was the home of Oldsmobile , it’s headquarters was here , and the streets were filled with everything from Toronado’s to the popular Cutlass .
The Rocket V-8 was an awesome power plant and the 442 was the Cutlass of choice if you could afford one .
We have the R.E. Olds Museum with special Olds products like that ’72 442 .
Agree with you a million percent %
I stocked up on every piece of motor and trans part for Olds from the 330 up to 455 for that reason. Had some rare stuff also. Plus no internet.
