The GM Authority Take
The steep decrease in October Corvette deliveries is likely the result of the C7 model coming to the end of its lifecycle and demand seeing a decrease. Notably, any reduced availability as a result of ongoing improvement and upgrade work taking place at the Corvette factory in Bowling Green, Kentucky has been addressed with adequate supply.
Even so, the model continued to outsell all other vehicles in its competitive set, including the most direct rivals Porsche Boxster, Cayman, 911, the Mercedes-Benz SLC-Class and SL-Class, Nissan GT-R and Ford GT (see Ford GT sales).

About Chevrolet Corvette
The Chevrolet Corvette is a lineup of sports cars sold globally. Slotting above the Chevrolet Camaro as Chevrolet’s flagship sports car, the Corvette lineup consists of the “base” Corvette Stingray, mid-level Corvette Grand Sport, Corvette Z06 and range-topping 2019 Corvette ZR1.
The 2018 Corvette represents the fifth model year of the seventh-generation, or C7, Corvette. The vehicle remains highly competitive in its segment. The generation is, however, coming to the end of its lifecycle – and sales usually tend to taper off at the end of a Corvette’s generational lifecycle.
Chevrolet is widely rumored to be working on a next-, eighth-generation Corvette. The model will be mid-engined, allowing it to push the performance envelope even further. See on the rumored mid-engine Corvette.
The Corvette is built exclusively at the GM Bowling Green factory in Bowling Green, Kentucky, USA. See more on GM plants.

Alex, not sure reduced availability is an issue. Last inventory figures I saw reflected in excess of 200 days invenory!
Alex can you tell me why they’re only 25 selling days in October 2017. And 26 selling days in October 2016. Why Isn’t it 31 selling days in October. There are 13 states that ban car sales on Sunday 37 States do not ban car sales on Sunday.
Chevrolet should have updated the interior. The materials are good but just spruce it up. Use a better resolution Nav screen. And for the record, I love that the Nav screen goes down and reveals a cool hidden storage space, but I’ve always hated the button for it. Looks extremely cheap like a parts bin find and kind of an afterthought placement for it. Also should have updated the front headlights to newer LED technology. The ZO6 and the upcoming ZR1 at least should not have the standard headlights. Technology changes so fast that customers now look at absolutely everything before making a purchase. I understand that the new mid-engine Vette is around the corner but the base Vette will have upcoming competition from the new BMW Z4 and Toyota Supra.
Is someone complaining about the interior of the C7? Not that I know of. The only that someone could say is that a $120,000 Z06 should have an even better interior for the money, but even that is a matter of perspective.
By the time the Z4 and Supra arrive, we’ll have the mid-engined C8… and both the Z4 and Supra will remain commercial failures as they were before… which doesn’t speak to their quality or mark on automotive history, but rather their impact to the business.
Alex I’m not complaining about the interior just some pieces that could use updates. Like the button that raises and lowers the Nav screen. The Nav screen resolution.
Another thing would be the round knob that controls the chassis settings. Feels flimsy to be honest. And I do think the headlights should have been updated.
No way did GM fund the development of a ZO6, GS, and ZR1 models if the upcoming Mid-engined Vette will completely replace the C7 (aka RWD/front-engined) model. Just my opinion really.
To be honest, I really do hope that the mid-engined Vette is a separate model that will be higher priced and will finally target the likes of McLaren, Ferrari, Aston Martin at a better price point and the 911, and the R8 straight up.
Right. I was simply asking if there was someone (anyone) out there in the world unhappy with the interior of the C7.
The infotainment should have been updated for 2018… and it’s not so much the system that impacts the resolution as it is the software. Theoretically, it could be done via a software update to the mapping system. To me, the ride settings selector feels fine, though the mechanism can definitely be of a higher quality.
I think that we will see the C7 live on for a few years into the future and be sold alongside the C8. They will be very different cars from the perspective of a driving experience, and the C8 might be priced in a higher bracket, though not as stratospherically-high as something like the Ford GT. Rather, I’m thinking along the lines of what Mercedes-Benz does with the SL ($88,000 starting) and the AMG GT ($125,000 starting). Subtract $20,000-$30,000 from the price of each and that’s likely the C7 and C8 will be positioned.
Nobody ever said the interior wasn’t nice. I’d just like Chevy to up the ante on the Vette like most manufacturers do. That’s the one problem with GM cars to be truthful. They hardly ever tinker with the interiors. I wasn’t suggesting a redesign. Just some really minor things. A new better rotary knob. The button that controls the Nav screen to lower and raise it. Better resolution and the newer software for the Nav screen that I can get on a $30,000 GMC Terrain.
Also, I did expect newer/better Headlights for the ZR1 at least. You can keep same assembly just add better LED tech. The Nox offers three different headlight tech in the same assembly. I mean the family hauling Traverse has better headlight tech than the $120,000 ZR1.
As you can see, all these are completely minor.
Just for the record, I love the Corvette. Just want to push Chevy to be it’s very best at everything they do.
The C8 is very close and this is the normal slow down before a new C model just X2 because many buyers will just wait for the new car.
Not surprised. The C8 is close to a release and winter is upon us in the USA. A RWD sports car is not a priority on many people’s lists when the snow is flying.
What does winter have anything to do with what I stated?
The ZR1 isn’t going on sale until Spring/Summer time.
Uh, what are you talking about? I was commenting on the story, not your comment(s). I don’t know where you’re going with this.
I’ve often questioned the correlation of seasonality with sports car sales… and have found no correlation whatsoever.
My general conclusions are that:
1. Those who buy these cars do not care about the time of year.
2. Those buy these cars do so when they see fit based on various factors like end-of-lifing their current cars due to an accident or repairs, end-of-lease timing, etc… Had everyone been buying these based on time of year/season, we would see most sales take place in the summer… which is not the case.
