The Nissan GT-R and C7 Corvette Z06 are both radically different cars, but both sit atop their respective brands as halo rings. Nissan has steadily increased the price of entry for its sports car and now it wants to bring the car back under six figures—by $10.
Nissan announced the Nissan GT-R “Pure” trim, which lacks various creature comforts, such as an 11-speaker Bose sound system, active noise cancellation, sound enhancement systems, but pushes the MSRP down to $99,990. With the price drop, it could be enough to spring potential Corvette Z06 owners into Godzilla, although, at six figures, the Corvette Z06 offers greater performance and more amenities.
The GT-R Pure retains the same 3.8-liter twin-turbo V6 engine good for 565 horsepower and 467 pound-feet of torque, as well as the same six-speed dual-clutch transmission and all-wheel-drive system. Of course, we all know the C7 Corvette Z06 boasts the 6.2-liter LT4 supercharged V8 engine with 650 horsepower and an identical amount of torque.
The GT-R offers a wildly different experience to the Corvette Z06, but the GT-R remains in the hunt as a formidable opponent.

To answer the article’s title question, NO.
Z06 2LZ + Z07 pkg still comes in for 95,145K and well over 4.5K less than base GTR.
They are hugely different cars delivering totally different driving experiences. Price alone will not convert one set of drivers and vice versa.
If you buy on price alone, buy a South Korean, small displacement, auto sh*tbox for getting from A to B.
The truth is traditional Vette buyers would not even consider this car.
The question is would it attract conquest buyers away.
no. i’ll take the new mid-engine vette over godzilla.
