Cadillac Launches 2018 XTS Sedan In China

It’s unclear when Cadillac will usher the refreshed 2018 XTS sedan into North American dealers, but on Monday, the brand launched the front-wheel-drive sedan in China. Since its initial launch in 2013, the XTS has become an incredibly popular vehicle in the country. So, it makes sense China got priority.

In China, the 2018 XTS receives all of the same updates to the U.S.-spec car, though it does not offer a V6 engine. In North America, buyers can only equip the luxury sedan with either a 3.6-liter V6 or 3.6-liter twin-turbo LF3 V6 in V-Sport guise. Instead, China gets a standard 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine paired with a stop-start function to increase fuel economy. It’s also the first Cadillac in China to feature over-the-air update functionality.

Elsewhere, the same Escala-inspired design is present as is a suite of active safety features such as collision mitigation and lane keep assist.

Pricing for the 2018 Cadillac XTS starts at RMB 299,900 ($45,200 USD) and rises to RMB 359,900 ($54,200 USD).

  1. “Since its initial launch in 2013, the XTS has become an incredibly popular vehicle in the country.”

It’s also very popular in the USA, outselling all other Cadillac sedans in 2017, and in October selling more than double the units of any other Cadillac sedan. Makes you wonder why JDN plans to kill it after 2019, but he’s a man with a plan.

  2. Is this an older article? Last I checked, my dealer had 3 already on the lot, another dealer nearby had 2 on the lot and 3 in transit.
